Default Looking for a lead on a spot welder in SC

I know I probably should put this in the marketplace, but really I don't want to buy anything I just want to borrow something.
I need to weld rails on one receiver. I don't anticipate ever needing to weld on another, and I really can't think of any other reason to get a spot welder.
I was wondering if there were any builders in the Greenville South Carolina area who would let me use their spot welder, or what the likelihood of just talkin to a welder to see if he could do it. I'm not sure if that's illegal though

i dont think is illegal. the welder isnt building the gun, just the rails. you are building the gun. but alot of people will shy away and act as if it were illegal when you say "gun part"

perhaps consult with a hole in the wall bodyshop or non franchise bodyshop who has a "pro spot" or equivalent. i will say the special lower tong tips will not be in the equation ,so you may be fucked in regards to that. fyi i use a pro spot at work and its cumbersome, it needs a custom lower tip wrapped in tape to keep from grounding out on an edge! welder fabricatin place maybe. DONT TRUST ANY "single sided spot weld" from a spot welder (just in case), they are too unreliable and may not stick. nor will it look good.

I have the tips, got them as part of an ak build tools package.
Finding a good bro might be hard though

Go to Harbor Freight and buy one, use it, and take it back.

That thought actually crossed my mind as I was brainstorming on the back porch.
I'd never do it though.

I'll wind up buying one, but it'll be a while. I got other things I need to get right now

That's what I'm talking about!
If you were only 2 hours away I would seriously consider it.
I imagine what I'll end up doing is getting a spot welder and posting here that if someone wants to borrow it they can.
Maybe I can repair shovels and garden tools as a side job with it.

120v HF works just fine and pretty cheap with a 20% off cupon right now. You're still going to need the tong from AK builder.

FOR THE LAST TIME, I GOT THE TONGS!

Sorry, refrigerator is giving me some trouble, I'm hungry, wife has morning sickness and doesn't let me get close to her, and all I want to do is shoot my m72 to see if I got the trigger guard fixed. I'm just frustrated.

Anyway I see that I'm going to have to end up buying one. But it looks like all the coupons that I see exclude welders!

As long as you don't have to ship it. The postage would end up costing as much as the welder. I was going to ship a bending jig to a member and it would have been cheaper to just buy a blank.

It's a standing offer though. I have a fairly complete mini machine shop in my garage. If you ever need to use anything and feel like driving, let me know.

There's a lot you can do with a spot welder. It never hurts to have one.

With this whole welder thing becoming a pain in the your ass,
any chance I can convince you to just scrap the project and sell me that stuff back? I need everything BUT the tongs.

Oh man it was you! Sorry bro, you gave me the deal of the century
Seriously though if you need the stuff I can loan it to you. It's not in as good of shape as when you last had it though

Ha!
Glad to hear it's getting used, and my genuine thanks for the loan offer!
Were it not for the fact I just purchased an "as is" home in the Smokies that is currently consuming every spare moment of my life, I'd be all over it.

Good luck with the welder, those friggin' rails are stressful.
I still say go 220V, too.

Shipping makes it hard to make sense to loan out any of these tools
