Default Where'd all the nagant revolvers go?

A few years ago there were Nagant revolvers everywhere for $125. Now they're gone except gunbroker where they're $300+ for one with a good bore.

Why?

It's not like ammo suddenly got cheap or common. It's still double the price of normal pistol ammo and none of my local gun shops sell it.

Did imports dry up or did century just raise the price?

I had one with a shit bore I sold off for $100 about 4 years ago and I was thinking about getting another one to thread for a suppressor, but at $300+ forget it.

I believe they imported a container shipload a few years ago ( giving us $49.95 Nagant revolvers for a time ) and that's been it . . .

Its not just Nagants right now. Look how dry the surplus market is now. Look at how many have dropped the C&R ffl over the last few years.

That's how they go, for like 1-2 years a certain military surplus hits the market for dirt cheap, then the price goes up to pretty cheap over the next couple years, then it goes to 5 years of people wondering why they are no longer cheap.

When a mil surplus firearm hits the market jump on it, it's not always going to be available and cheap. For historical evidence please see M1 Carbine, 1911's, M1 Garands, AK-47's, SKS and others I don't feel like remembering to write down.

Yep, the latest has been the Bulgarian Makarovs and Polish 9x18 pistols, which can be had for $200 or a little less. A bargain in today's market.

Politics does intervene along the way.

For $125 I wouldn't have touched them. I think I've got 125 between the two I've got & a can of ammo. Love the little buggers.

Dont tell anyone, but I've thought about using on for a carry gun on occasion.

Preferably two guns, one being a long gun.

Meh. Got that covered.

I still carry my 1911 daily. For one simple reason, 9mm & .40 call may or may not expand . But .45acp is never going to shrink. Dont know who said that, but they're a damn genius.

Course i carry a Tok on occasion. I like that little round.

Well I guess I'll have to hope for another container full in the next few years.

I should get one of those bulgarian makarovs though. I've never owned a real makarov. I had a P64 that I bought once that was advertised as a Polish Makarov but later learned it was not a Makarov at all and only shared the caliber.

I've had a lot of surplus pistols but never seem to hold on to them. The only one that I've bought that I never wanted to sell is my CZ52. The noise it makes is... outstanding.

I really do regret selling my police surplus Star BM though. What a 9mm pistol. Fit and finish was on par with custom grade compact 1911's and it was the most enjoyable shooting pistol I've ever shot. Can't even remember why I sold it.

I said "container shipload" . .

I doubt a single container full would do much for the pricing here.

^^^^ That is a lot of Nagant revolvers right there. I'm pretty sure mine came in that blue container to the far left.

I remember thinking $150 was too much to spend a few years back, because they could be had for $100 only months before I bought it.

Mine is in good condition, but I have seen numerous ones that looked to be arsenal refinished. I have also seen some in fair condition.

This tells me the container theory may not "hold water."

What say you?

The ammo is definitely done, I'd say the same for the rifles, I think they would bring them in if they were available.

We will probably get a trickle here and there, they will never be $100 again.

Gotta love the old school wheel guns from Russia/Soviet Union.
Clunky but cool.
