Default Form 4 approvals!

I noticed we had a posting where you guys were listing submission and approval times for form 1's. Some guys were listing form 4's so I thought it would be kind of nice to have a separate support post for us guys waiting on Form 4 transfers. I've noticed approval times have been slightly different for the different forms.

I'll go first!!!

DEADAIR ARMAMENT SANDMAN S

Mailed in: last week of April

Card charged: May 9, 2016

Pending: May 10, 2016

Approved: January 7, 2017

Suppressor in hand: January 20, 2017

SUREFIRE RYDER .22A

Mailed in last week of April

Card charged: May 9, 2016

Pending: May 10, 2016

Approved: January 7, 2017

Suppressor in hand: January 20, 2017

DEADAIR ARMAMENT MASK .22

Mailed in mid June

Card charged: June 26, 2016

Suppressor in hand: ????

Today is January 2, 2017. I called the ATF NFA branch today during lunch and nobody answered. The message on the automated phone system said approval times were at 8 months currently. I will try to call again tomorrow and check on my status.

Anybody who has had a recent form 4 approval or is currently awaiting some, please chime in!

EDIT:

Called in today January 3, 2017. The guy who answered the phone picked up immediately and was friendly. He checked both my May submissions and said they were both still "pending" since May 10, 2016.

He said it should not be much longer though.

I've checked it out. I actually check it, silencershop.com, and the 68forums when I want to get an idea of what is being approved. It is just nice to have a recourse on the files.

And yeah, I've seen some guys getting their May submitions approved last month. I don't have that kind of luck though.

I checked out capitol armory because I've never heard of them before. They actually have a really cool website and a very good selection of products to choose from! Too bad I live 1 mile west of the Texas border so I'm not a Texas resident! Dang!!! I may still buy a can or two from them after my move to Arizona. That is if I can't find an Arizona dealer with what I want!

They are easy to deal plus they offer the SPEQ discount so it was a no brainer. I'm heading up to Austin this week so I am going to stop by their place. .

I think my next purchase from them will be the Wolverine PBS-1. My only hope is that the price drops down to $699-799 instead of the $899.

No but I'm about to. I buy everything under a trust so I've never had to do the fingerprints or passport photos. I've got some questions too.

I need to find out if I can have facial hair in my passport photos, and how and who to send my "notification" to. I really don't want to shave! Fingerprint cards are easy and I believe you can do them yourself at your dealer. From what I've been told is that the new process is not really all that bad. I think Silencerco has a good write up on the new process on their website for free.

I submitted a form4 for suppressor a day or two after the new rules went into affect. It'll probably be spring time before that stamp comes in.

How did the process differentiate, fairly easy to do?

The hardest part about the process is getting together the fingerprints and passport photos. The first time I did it, I blew $10 at the pharmacy's photo center and another $15 paying a local security company to do the fingerprint cards. Then figure in the extra time I spent driving around getting this stuff done.

Then I wised up and got the fingerprint cards and ink off amazon. If you haven't had them done before, I'm sure there are lots of videos on how to have a helper do your prints for you. And anybody with a half decent camera and a photo printer can make a whole sheet of passport photos for almost nothing.

Once you have that, its just a matter of filling out the forms and mailing them to uncle sam and your local sheriff. They have to be printed front and back and you have to send 2 copies to uncle sam. You include a copy of your trust in the envelope sent to the ATF but not the one to your sheriff.

CostCo does passport photos for $5 for 4. Pretty good deal imo if you don't have a good printer.

But, you say we have to send two copies... Does that also mean two photos and two finger print cards? I'm about to attempt my first form 4 here soon.

As I understand it, yes. I sent in my Form 4s with 2 of everything, except the page with the credit card info. I only sent one copy of that page.

Two stamps. First was received 3/10 and approved 10/11, second was received 5/17 and not approved yet. Lady at ATF said yesterday that approvals are at least 8 months now.

I'm calling today or tomorrow on my ones that were charged 5/9 and went pending 5/10. Hopefully i get to take them home next week sometime. You won't be too far behind me hopefully.

NFA tracker and Silencershop.com are showing people from the last days of April and the first couple weeks of May getting theirs in.

EDIT: called the NFA branch today January 12, 2017. They said my forms that were pending since May 10, 2016 are now approved since January 7, 2017. Just gotta wait for that stamp in the mail!

Awesome, can't wait for mine to finally arrive in a few more months.

If you ordered from the Silencershop, does the stamp ship directly to you or the retailer you're picking up your suppressor from?

I purchased from my local dealer's inventory although they regularly do go through silencershop for a lot of people. My impression was that the stuff is mailed to the dealer and then they will call you. I'm not sure if that process varies.

I ordered my Griffin Arnament Optimus on 2 Feb 2016 and am still waiting. This is my 3rd one and my last 2 took 9 1/2 month even when other were taking 3-4. Fucking bullshit. This will be my last. I'm tired of this wait.

I'm thinking it won't be so bad once I already have my first few. I'll have something to get me by till my new ones get approved.

I got to take home my Sandman S and my Ryder .22A today! Almost 9 months from the day I sent off paperwork to when I got to take the cans home. Dang that was a long wait! I'm about to buy a couple more too! I'm planing on a 5.56 can in the $500-650 range and another rimfire can. The surefire Ryder is a lot of fun! I blew through all of the subsonic that I had been saving up for the past couple months!
