I have this in the AK and AR configurations. I much prefer it over 5.56 which I also have in the AK and AR version.
In the VEPR, to me is not much more than shooting a .22LR due to weight and muzzle brake .In a 74 the gun is very light and again recoil is basically nil. The 74 brake is very well designed. In the AKS74U, extremely light and with the booster a bit more felt impulse. In the AR it works equally well but the impulse is "different" that the 5.56.
I have taken pigs with the 5.45 and it is capable of making some nasty wounds but that is the design of the round and it's intended purpose.
The 7.62x39 is my all time favorite round but this is very close if not equal. It may surpass the former for me eventually.
I haven't shot one either, but the more I see them, the more I want to. The 104 looked so effortless to shoot in Rob's vid. I enjoy the thump of the 7.62x39 and is what I'm used to. To me, it's always been kind of part of the experience of shooting my 107 as it and my AR in the same caliber are my favorite guns to shoot. I got heavily invested in 5.56 last year when I previously wasn't and was already deep in 7.62x39. My only hesitation is stocking yet another caliber...

Just curious how the impulse is different between the 5.45 and 5.56 in a AK?

This is great. May be my favorite AKOU stress test. Hope it holds up.

I would like to see Rob put an M92 through the 5,000 round test too, but only if he gets the $200 stamp so he can mount a stock.

.
Veprs come with 5 & 10 rd 5.45 mags. So do some of the arsenal 5.45 rifles. Id have to look in my sgl boxes, but they may even come with them too.

Second that! I'd be interested in seeing the M92 or Draco 5,000 round test. Most of us have one or the other...let's see what they're made of

My Fleet Farm 5.45 Saiga came with a surplus ((10)) mag. My new VEPR FM-AK74-11 came with a brand new, never insterted ((10)) mag.

*Not talking about aftermarket blocked mags.
Shoretactical had the 2pack 5&10 round vepr 5.45 mags

My SGL's came with 10 round mags. It was not an issue for me as I use them for sighting in rifles where 30 round mags would be a hindrance.

VEPR mags aren't AK-74 mags.

Didn't know about the Saiga SGL-31's coming with 10-rounder's though. Good to know.

Either way, it's cool that the FM-AK74-11's come with 30-rounders.

¿Por que no los dos? Paul with a Pap, Rob with a krink. It's a pistol-off!
