This front trunnion looks parkerized.

Just curious why the DIY kit isn't.

if you review the post by Atlantic, they do take their rifles apart and completely refinish. the kit is a Do It YourSelf refinish, so pick the finish you wish to apply.

The complete Atlantic Arms rifles are built , Test fired then stripped down and sent out to a custom refinishing shop . They blast the parts & then do a 2 coat finish on the metal. The parts are sent back and the guns re assembled then test fired and final QC before shipping to our warehouse. So yes the complete guns would sport a finish the DIY kits only have what ever finish was applied to prevent rust while in storage.

So the DIY kit would have to be taken apart, front trunnion removed then parkerized & then riveted back in place then check head space. Then install fire control group followed by furniture? I'm asking cause I can installed a FCG no problem, i just haven't built an AK like populating a barrel or riveting a front trunnion in place. I'm a newbie when it comes to actual AK building. Thanks

It's already built, my dude. Degrease-blast-park-paint or degrease-blast-paint. Definitely don't disassemble an already immaculately assembled barreled receiver.

He's asking about the area on the trunnion, inside the receiver, that is not exposed due to the trunnion being already installed. Since it is "bare steel" before it was riveted in, the concern is about the area rusting.

When we talk about taking the gun apart , We are talking about removing the gas tube , bolt , dust cover and fire control ONLY. They do not need to be stripped down to the point of removing rivets & pins. Most com bloc Arsenals parts are in the white when they assemble guns and do not have finish until the end of the process. The Atlantic Arms team goes the extra step of building the rifles and testing them before finish and then after finish to further the QC efforts of this product line.

Aaah I see, didn't know the com-bloc arsenals install everything in the white.
