Default Can anyone in the US buy Post-Ban Chinese guns?

Canadians have them, and they're pretty sick! Can ANYONE in the US (private party or commercial party) get their hands on a Norinco Type 97 or any post-ban Chinese gun for that matter? I know about the whole Norinco bust and Clinton's ban on Chinese guns. Is there ANY possible way to get one? Eg. Importer requesting a sample from a Canadian dealer.(Theoretical Discussion)

You mean "brand new imports"? No.

However, there are thousands of "post ban" Chinese guns here in the USA that can be purchased by any 'Murican . . .

I used to see Canadian imports at gun shows near the border.

They likely still show up as I don't think Canada kept up with much of them before 1997.

I believe, after 5 years in Canada, that they can be imported here. Not 100% sure of that though.

Doubt that entirely. I'd have a x39 M14 by now. Or the x39 BREN that takes AK mags

This may be true in writing only. If this was the case half the forum would own Marstar SVT's from Canada.

4 or so years ago a lot of SKS rifles were allowed to be imported to the US via Albania, a neutral country. They were allowed to import Chinese guns but not Russian (even though some made it in and were labeled Chinese). I never looked into it but it was reported that if the SKS's were domiciled in a neutral country for 5 years they could be imported. Maybe it was because they were classified c&r but I bought a bunch of them. I got mine from Royal Tiger but there were several vendors offering them for sale.

SVT's are Russian and therefore wouldn't be allowed in.

Does anyone know what the Chinese are still making as far as Type 56 stuff? I’m suspect they quit making SKS’s 30 years ago, but I really have no clue if they are still making AK’s or if they are still the Type 56 design.

That's what I'm saying...

If anyone wants to see what we're missing, go on http://www.firearmsoutletcanada.com/ SBR's, Polytech AK's, a $730 Norinco M14, etc. I'd take US gun laws over Canada's but they have some sick shit.
