Default PKM Imports anyone?

So I discovered that some time ago a small batch of polish made PKM kits were on the market. I definitely missed out on that as at that time I was still trying to put fuel in my car to go to college. But anyhow I was wondering if anyone knew if there was going to be a bunch of PKM polish kits on the market in the near future? I read something back about 5 years ago that the Polish Army went to a version of the PKM in NATO chamberings. Presumably they have a bunch of the old Soviet chamberings coming up for sale soon. Rob Bowman do you have anything to weigh in?

Poland developed two 7.61x51 belt fed machine guns based on the PKM.

The one the Polish military accepted is more different from the PKM and is like a new design on or in a PKM-like receiver.

The other design was more like the PKM in operation.

The Bulgarian one by Arsenal.

The Chinese one.

The Polish one.

The Polish army has adopted a reserve army, very much like we do.
How to equip a new made reserve army, when your country has no money?
[Poland seized everyone's "401" retirement funds and issued IOU's to raise cash]
They kept the ex-commie weapons for the reservist, NO Polish weapons have been offered by their MOD "tender" [auction] in over two years.

Very few PKMs have been offered in years, the best we can do in Serb M-84, an excellent weapon.
We just imported 220 NOS SG-43s complete parts kits, we had to buy them from a Polish private vendor that "sat" on them for 5+ years.

No surplus reserve stocks exist in the "easy" countries, we are leaving for Europe on Friday, [gone for 1 month] inspecting-offering-buying weapons in several countries, mostly the Balkans.
Tough purchasing environment, much harder exports from these countries.
A simple border guard held up a 14 container shipment several years ago, until he....

We may have found a large lot of 54r ammo, inspection in 2 weeks.

I forgot how many rounds available, but the total is at $10 million gross sale.
Spread over a 2-3 year contract, both 54r and 7,62x39 lead core.
We are working on the projected profit-loss sheet now, is it profitable bottom line?
Our interest is directly proportional to the profit margin.
Zero net profit = zero interest.
The 12% ammo import duty does not help us beat any other potential international customers with little to no duty tax.
[Yes, it is built into YOUR cost of all ammo]
Shipping is a big problem, many ships captains will not allow live [or inert] ammo on their ships, those that do know it.
Of course, there is the risk that the ammo will suddenly become armor piercing in the middle of the Atlantic, as 5,45 did.
Other than that, it is an easy project, what could go wrong?

I will look around the vendors at Knob Creek shoot this weekend.
PKM kits of any kind are very few, but one never knows.

Expect to pay 4 figures for good kits.

lol, there are no PKM in three figures, may be PKT. That boat has sailed long time ago, the serb kits are no bad, at least you get a solid stock so the buffer tube for semi build is not going to stick out like a sore thumb. I'd imagine that PKM kits in EU are more valuable as guns, not as kits in US, they are still very much in use today.

I would most certainly be interested in both calibers. Since it is lead core is it then also copper jacket, brass case? I would think it corrosive similiar to the M67 yugo which is fine.
Why do they not like shipping ammo? Lurking U boats? LOL
Or generalized liability, theft, piracy? Interesting nonetheless.

Just a total crapshoot guess here...but if the total sale is 10 mil, if even half of that is 54R......... 5 mil.... let's pad the bottom line and say they sell for 50 cents a round.....

10 million rounds?

Even at 60 cents a round that's 8.3 million.

Am I doing that math even remotely correct?

Lot's of unknowns to make a good guess.

Default Pkm

Well it sounds like I'm going to have to wait probably 30 years before I can get a pecan kit from Poland. And the super crummy part about that is in 30 years these kids are going to be definitely illegal. The way things are going in this country now I really don't know that my current kits will be legal.

Shit. There are a lot of people hoping and praying. The current AK market has the image of Death on a pale horse, along with famine, pestilence, and war and a black cloud of gloom with the fortress of despair tower, in my mind.

I’d like to see the AK market get back.
