Default Yugo Zastava M90NP...how many of 'em?

We're imported....or are here...?
I asked a vendor and they went all FBI on me and said they "couldn't release that info due to security reasons"...
Isn't that info kinda out their somewhere anyways....?
I was just curious as to how many made it into the country before Zastava stopped producing/importing them.
Another question I guess...
Did they stop making them? Or someone simply stopped importing them...or they didn't want to import them to the US anymore...or other reasons?

I'd heard the RH10 was only imported to the tune of like 2,000 so seeing that somewhere made me curios.

I don't know how many were imported, but I'm pretty sure they are no longer being made and were a us civilian market specific run. If you look at them, they're very similar to a picture I've seen of m21 sporters, with different barrel components and a mag adapter. Shame we didn't get those instead, I'm using the one I picked up cheap earlier this year as the base for a m21 build, but getting all the necessary parts is slow going.

I bet a survey of serial numbers would tell you how many came in, or ballpark it.

Mine’s 750 I think

Century never really has told the numbers for their imports. The way they manage their paperwork, its probably not a secrets thing so much as they don't know themselves thing lol. Zastava would still build and export the M90. Its Century who decided not to order more. They've been cutting back on their imports since 2013; instead refocusing money & energy at their USA made AK lines. The M90NP was so close to being awesome, but in the end they fucked it up good.

It's possible to rework it to take yugo .223 mags, the trigger guard needs to be swapped out, magazine well needs to be opened up slightly and the front trunnion milled for the ledge. There may be some variation in the front trunnions used--there was another guy here who did this conversion and it looked like his trunnion was slightly modified m85 front trunnion, but the one in mine is flat where the magazine ledge should be. At first I thought it had been milled off, but comparing it to m85 parts/pistol I have, it looks like it simply wasn't milled out there for the ledge.

Even if you do that though, the left side "ear" of the trunnion is too short and doesn't look right cosmetically. I've got a m70 trunnion I've scrubbed and milled a little off the underside of the locking lugs so it will accept the yugo (and bulgy/polish) .223 mags, I'll be using it on the m95 repro build I'm waiting on a barrel for. The same could be done for a m90np to (almost) m90a conversion.

I did seriously consider an M90NP for about a week, but just too much work....Its not so much the cost but more the time that it would take up. I am not exactly blessed with a lot of spare time as it is hehe.

In the end, I am very happy with my Archer and VEPR 1v; both in 5.56 so they'll do. Also recently picked up an Ace in the same caliber when they went on sale.

If someone ever imports an M21 semi, i'll definitely look into it though.

Have you found a barrel source or are you modifying another barrel? What are you using for the adjustable gas block? I had 3 of the M90/95 Bocefus kits when he sold them for $375 or less. Traded 2 out for other desirable kits. I want more!!!!!

If they just would have imported a compliant M21 variant with rock and lock mags it would have sold like hot cakes.

Yeah it's a shame they have that poly magwell, although I did get to run a mag or two through one at the range back in the summer. The marine had a nice scope and everything on it and it was super nice to shoot and very accurate.

I sold mine to my AR buddy who never has owned an AK before and one major selling point to him was that he didn't have to stock up on any other mags/ammo besides what he already has. The magwell works with AR mags very well, and is very strong. I never had a single issue with it, just another varient to own. If an AK guy can put bias aside locking in/releasing AR mags has its advantages over AK mags. To each their own tho.

I remember reading somewhere around the time that I got mine that they imported 2,000 like the RH-10. I really like mine, but am going to list it up soon to help pay off an AUG.

Mm love mine and it's kickass rifle even if it is a little heavier than most AK74's which seemed to be what most people didn't like.

Awesome info..ill post my serial # when I get it..I googled that m21...damn ...do want...
Definitely not looking at modding the magwell for m85 mags anytime soon...I think Robski stated zastava did the magwell but does that sound right? Or century add it after they got them.
I honestly haven't seen any issues with the magwell s except for some mags not dropping free..
I know one user had a troublesome m85 but it didn't sound like it was magwell related.

In regards to a troublesome M85np, mine wouldn't cycle worth a damn until I swapped the trigger. Not sure what it was, never investigated it afterwards. It does shoot great now.

One bonus with the Serbian guns with 1.5 mil receivers, Pap M90 & M85NP pistol all have chrome lining where as other models do not. No a deal breaker but nice.

Checked and mine is 780. It also has an oval 14 stamp on right side trunnion - shall we assume year?
Sigking, can you see if yours has an oval 15?

I'll look for the oval numerical tomorrow...I remember RobSki I believe mentioning the Chromecast lining..
I shot mine yesterday..put about 60rds through it...one or two mags I thought were seated but weren't and I had to smack it in harder from the bottom...pmags
Could be they were painted by me also.
I set the gas setting to 2...that was harder to do than id anticipated...
Gun was used...
From a LGS....I doubt the gas setting was ever messed with before. No markings etc from it being moved..or messed with.
I put on the Crapco slotted brake...
That brake causes cheek slapping on my sensitive frame and cheek (). Believe I need to work on shooting with it more or ditch it altogether.
Changed out that (in my opinion) hideous century grip for the Magpul after I shot it.
Pretty happy to the addition to the family...
That makes 3 Zastavas.....
Now I need that Zastava t-shirt someone sold a while back...probably missed the boat on it.
