Default JBI Armory MG42 Semi Build

Well this was a lot of work and time, time for the parts. Built this up for a customer on a m53 kit and BRP stamps, bcg, and grip stick. The hard part was welding in a 4 inch bridge for the original shroud and the new receiver. You do feel sense of accomplishment when done. The post dealer is less complicated.

All I know is Kits are about $500 without a barrel.. 80% receiver and barrel shroud sections are around $380.. Barrel plus additional semi auto/US parts plus labor??? I'm guessing finished product over $2k..

I feel like I saw some yugo kits on sale for like $250 or $350 or something like that a week or two ago, definitely wish I'd picked one up....did anybody else see that sale, or was I imagining this? lol

If you did they had some serious demill cuts on them.. No barrel, likely the shroud was chopped to pieces and so on. The cheaper the kit the more chopped up they are and the more it will cost to build.

The one I built cost me around 1500 in the end, and I built my receiver, I did convert it to .308 though so that added 400 off the top

Do you have any pictures of the charging handle groove? And did you mill it before or after you welded on the plate?

Thanks
And great work like always.

Guys the newer kits cost a lot more to build. My shroud was cut in several places and required a 4 inch section at both ends. I would say 1500 to get into a good kit plus semi parts.

I removed the plate then welded it back after the groove was cut. I used a 3/32 key way cutter.

Im working on one of these now and started with this

https://mg34.com/product/m-53-mg-42-...ent-condition/

Having the receiver to reweld makes it easier. A barrel from Robert bowman. And BRP semi parts.

Im at the last stage of modifying the bolt and charging handle.

I had to stop and do a few AK's in between to ease my nerves on this one.

I have a local person I have traded with that has a few nazi German single saw cut kits, but he wants 2k each. I just don't know enough about the market if that is a good deal.

He says yugo M53 at the top. Though you will find some German parts on M53s occasionally. Look at spending around $5000-6000 to get a legit German MG42 kit, the needed semi parts and the work done.

Maybe prices have come down since I looked though.
