PAP's receiver's cracking.
Anything from Russia or China is long over.
Got the promise of those FBR Beryl's at about $3000 though!
But then there's the WASR!!! What a piece of shit in all it's dimpleless single stack military anti-spec glory! Can you believe that when folks say "What AK should I buy?" the resounding answer is WASR!!?? Come on man!

That about cover's the imports, now you want to discuss the glorious US manufactured domestic models?

PSA is still grasping at straws.
Dave with DDI is somewhere preparing to drop that bomb (remember)?

Seriously OP? AR guys don't go around with headspace gauges wondering if their gun is gonna blow up in their face, or breaking it down every few hundred rounds to inspect the carrier tail, or getting out the magnifying glass to see how much damage today's range trip did to the bolt, locking lugs and trunnion.

Like I said on the last AK vs AR thread, in the current atmosphere in the USA, the AK is nothing more than a novelty. Wish it wasn't that way...
yes we know, you had one bad WASR 10 and they're all shit... and dimples? BWHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

I do admit, AR's are everywhere. I rarely see AK's at the range, but I see tons of ARs. There may be a reason for that. Don't get me wrong, I love my AK's, but if I could only grab one gun on the way out the door, it's my AR every day and twice on Sunday.

When it comes to a tool, I could care less about character. What I care about is: DOES IT WORK? ARs? they work really well!

Op is trying to troll for a response or smokes a lot of crack. I'm guessing crack.

And they're not all shit, unless you compare them to a Mak, or an Arsenal (any flavor), or a Maadi, or a Saiga, or a Vepr, etc... Then they are all pieces of shit!

oh, and the Arsenal ... ANY flavor? Including the 107r??? (e.g., the Bulgarian WASR complete with flaking paint)

oh, and this coming from someone who's had both

So, you've owned an Arsenal 107r and you think the WASR is a superior AK47?

I'm at a loss for words...

You'll never convince me that a WASR is anything other than the lowest quality of AK-47 that has ever been produced by a non-US company.

When so many AK enthusiasts proclaim such a low quality, cheap weapon as the Best Available, it's a testament to the sad state of the AK47 in the USA.

Its really a sorry situation thats most likely only gonna get worse.
Unless some American companies start pumping out quality AK's, the only quality AK's will be the ones already here that peeps are selling in the secondary market(used).
Another problem with the AK community is price. If quality AK's are gonna cost silly $$$, its done

Not superior. But no better or worse...the 107r is rough, canted sites, shitty finish, Rivets weren't the best and the fit was just "meh". It's just a basic AK, along with the WASR, SAR-1, and many others. Not exactly what I would consider being worth anything more than the WASR goes for, and many others have agreed after they've gotten their 107r's this year as well

Simply put. The Arsenal stamped guns are HUGELY underwhelming in general (in the 107 line)

(and of course the string of complaints over the last few months where the 107r carrier and trunnion are tearing at each other)

is it on par with a milled Arsenal? God no. But then again, neither is the 107r, not by a long shot

you may not a agree, but people like Rob ski, and many others who shoot a HELL of a lot more than many of us have put it through the ringer and the horny whore just runs. I'm not sure what criteria to use to determine what is "better", but if a gun is durable, has solid fit and finish, and runs like a raped ape. Not much more you can ask. I mean, other than your complaint about the double stack bolt (which can be debated and your opinion has merit on them) They're you're standard grade Romanian parts.

As you said, it's just an opinion, but an educated one as I have actually run both (and still do)

I laugh at this Versus crap every time I see it.

I've 3 ARs and 3 AKs, they all go boom and hit the target every time.
Both platforms has it's pros and cons, but I like them both anyways.

Did you actually say ARs are harder to work on than AKs?

The only reason I don't like ARs is there are so many parts and combinations available that it takes me forever to decide what I want. I find an AK I like and usually only change the furniture

AR's are dangerous. Barbie doll of guns. You can assemble and dissassemble a million different combinations.

Working on them sucks? That's objectively false. All you need are some punches, a reaction rod/vise block, and a wrench (you can obviously get fancier if you want).

To a point the average fresh off the wall AR is pretty devoid of any true character IMO. I found an old(ish) Olympic Arms with an A1 upper and A2 stock that just screamed buy me. Its currently my favorite rifle of the bunch. After I put the 20in and the A1 set on it I'll have (in theory) a some what unique rifle.

Do you even own an AR?

All you need to work on an AK is a hammer? Working on ARs is easier ?

Sounds like a very misinformed biased post, I could further dissect the OP, but there's no point.

I objectively like the AK more and trust it more for reliability in untrained hands and extreme cold or austere conditions where first line lubes and cleaners not available.

However, ARs are just easier to use in many ways. Better native iron sights, better ergos, and the pic rail on the receiver rarely is so out of spec that it messes w your ability to Co-witness or get a QD optic mount off in a hurry. I have had both issues w out of spec side rails on AKs.

I do hate that fricking "sproing" of the buffer tube spring and think that's why the AR feels cheaper to me. I also don't like the position of the charging handle and prefer being able to work the bolt manually. Same w the mag release. You can beat on it in freezing cold weather w no issues. I am a little more hesitant to whale on my AR mag releases in quite the same way.

Durability may be more a feel thing. And I agree that an AR feels more fragile. However, ironically, Rob Ski has GREATLY increased my confidence in the AR platform w his various torture tests. And that blasted "In Range" you tube mud test shows what it shows.

So I like both, and for a guerilla war in the bush in a northern clime I would prefer an AK. But assuming decently trained shooters and access to proper maintenance supplies, I am much more comfortable w the AR than I used to be. Plus the GRS iron sights and easy to find and fit optics are a boon to aging eyes.

Confidence in your weapon is critical and it can become infectious. So carry what suits you and what you can shoot.
