Default How much does your rifle weigh?

I'm just curious about what other people's AR-15's weigh. I have several with various setups, but the one I'd grab if I could only grab one on my way out the door is the one I'm talking about here.

Mine comes in right at 9 lbs loaded. That includes a mag with 28rds of 64gr, a 30mm red dot, a surefire G2X light w/mount, 2 extra light batteries in the stock, extra bolt in the grip, 2 point magpul sling, midlength drop in quad rail, A2 FSB on a govt. profile barrel.

It seems a little heavy, but with all that crap it's understandable I guess. So what does yours weigh with a similar setup as mine?

I weighed my fully loaded ar10 yesterday now she is a heavy bitch. But my ar15 is right around where yours is. But will get heavier once a 1-8x is added but right now with a RDS it's a tad over 8lbs.

LWRC IC SPR with BUIS, vortex strike Eagle 1-6, Burris Pepr QD Mount, fully loaded mag, vertical grip, comes in around 12lbs... I can’t rememver if I weighed it with the suppressor on it or not... it’s been a while.

The rifle with just irons and an empty mag weighs 7lbs 2oz. I think that burris Mount could be swapped out for something lighter. As could the strike Eagle.

I’ve got a Daniel Defense rifle that is outfitted similarly and weighs 1/2 pound less too. The LWRC rifle just feels rock solid compared to it though.

I have a free floated medium profile barreled dissipator with a 1-4x optic, light, and military web sling. It weighs 10lbs unloaded.

The wife's rifle is a lightweight barreled midlength upper on a one piece polymer lower with a light, red dot, and sling. It's 7-1/4lbs unloaded.

May play around with some of my rifles and a scale a little later...but the longer I've been in the shooting game, the longer I've come to appreciate a well balanced/lightweight rifle.

Windham SRC at 6.3 lbs. naked

+ holosun 403A and fab defense backups with a loaded mag of xm193 is another 1.6 lbs.

So right at 8 lbs. fully loaded, If I switched to a lighter stock and handguard I could offset the weight of a light.

The M&P 10 seem to be the lightest factory AR-10 out there.

7.75 lbs. dry is light.

If you include the POF Revolution as an 'AR-10' (.308 AR but small frame) it comes in at 7.3 lbs.

Wilson Combat has their Ultralight that comes in at 7 lbs.

But yeah, the M&P 10 seems to be one of the lighter options. Especially at its price point.

As long as I can hold a rifle standing for 2 minutes, the rifle isn’t that heavy. The 240B is where I start sucking. It is very hard to shoulder with body armor on in a standing position.

I believe you always want to have your rifle light enough to stand and shoot. Drum mags should be used for stationary positions and not on patrol.

My daughters 16" AR weights 4.75lbs unloaded with irons, gonna swap a few parts later to drop that lower.

Generally my ARs weight about 5-6lbs plus optic. Except my 24" bull barrel AR10.

I have Spikes mid-length with FAB defense quad rail, no optic & E-Lander mags, it’s heavier than the Romy G I had years ago but it’s a tank. Imagine when I decide on optic & fore grip/bi pod.

I built a light carbine with a fluted GM barrel that comes in a 6lb 3oz with no rear sight and the carry handle sight adds 7oz to that. I have a mostly PSA midlength carbine build that is 6lb 8oz with a DD fixed rear sight. Both are great shooters. Without the magpul furniture and spikes buffer, the PSA build might be lighter than my lightweight build.
