So what did you use to blast those mags, AKBlue?
I have a little hand held sand blaster and some beat up plums I want to try this.
What's the orange you are using on the Asian wood?
Or did I miss that?
Thanks guys!

I used Aluminum Oxide. Then rub down with oil.

Try blasting with baking soda first ... not as harsh as sand or glass beads.

In order to get rid of the scrubbbed area on the bottom area and get a match to the finish like the K-Var plum polymer it works well with amore agressive media.

When I saw media, I was thinking corn cobs/walnut husks. I will see if I can find the Al2O3. But baking soda I have.
Thanks guys!

Not fired it yet. It has a crack where the screw holes are that connect to the tang.

I finished it last night and went to shoot it today and maybe the shellac brought the crevice out more.

Yea I’ve had a thumbhole stock crack on me in the same spot. As well as one that was already broken given to me with a mak purchase. I like what you have done to yours. I might give something like that a try since I have 2 busted stocks to start with. And I’m a lefty so there a little uncomfortable for me.

I had 1 or 2 that were broken as well and I did all sorts of experiments with colts and finishes. Being a southpaw you should do this and Regroove the grip to better suit your hand. I have 1 more stock but it has to be good if I start cutting on it since it will probably need to stay one of my maks

I might practice on one of the broken ones to see if I like it. I have a mak sporter that someone cut fingers grooves into that I can repeat it on if I like how the sample turns out. Thanks for the inspiration.
