the dbl stack mag is nice............would be great if it was a SEMI auto shotgun with a pistol grip and stock............as a pump gun with a standard stock, it looks stupid as fuck..........they should have made it in a 930m model with pistol grip / stock setup like a Benelli m4

That being said..........Maybe CSSPECS will get some ideas from that mag for Vepr 12 mags! something good could can come out of this

MD Arms holds the patent to the double-stack shotgun magazine.

http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2...le-stack-590m/

Per an email from MD Arms

I wish the double stacks had worked out for the Saiga-12. It is still my favorite shotgun. The Saiga market was always plagued with import problems and quality problems. There was also the constant fear of the political climate too. Then the sanctions completely killed it. Maybe if good US clones start coming out in good numbers that could change.

Mags don't make sense to me unless it's a serbu shorty (2+1) or similar. I would think you'd would want compact and not full size with a mag but I'm no expert.

I don't think Mossberg cares about MD arms patent. It can be done and Vepr and Saiga owners want a 20 round double stack. Like I said if Mossberg can make one then CSSPECS or any one else can!!

I tend to agree although I like at least having the option. The one Achilles of the shotgun is capacity and a mag helps w that although I do want to see how well it works w a pump in practice. People tend to short stroke pumps under stress and I want to see how badly that will jam up the mag if it does.

Interesting concept. This could revolutionize combat shotguns. Or... it could be an expensive jama-matic. Time will tell. I'll wait and see.

Kinda neat.

I think the real test would be to leave the mag loaded for an extended period of time and then try to dump the mag.

Those shot shells may deform.

I like the mag. It’s a two piece design and can increase capacity for the veprs and saiga stocks 20 round mags at a affordable price.

the reason they deformed in saiga is teh shells were at a bigger angle, and were held agains the bottom of the bolt, squishing them good. (i think) if you notice a mossy or rem bolt is "shorter" so there is less gap tween the bolt face and where the round needs to be presented from.... as the patent holder said on different sight, he thinks it wont be an issue, but until millions of folks try it, we wont know for sure.....

Apparently the 590M have some cuts in the receiver. The fins in the mag interface with the cuts in the receiver to stabilize the magazine. Not looking good for a retrofit kit for existing 590s.

Nope the bolt and carrier also need to be changed. You would be better off selling one to get the other..

I think I'd go with the SB version over the KAK blade on this one...that sounds like a really bad idea on my surgically repaired shoulders

I don't post much in the shotgun section as I just don't own too many shotguns....at least not compared with my AKs.

But I am a bit of a Mossberg fan. I own 2 M590A1s and have been considering a Shockwave 590 just for shits and giggles too.
I've always had goodluck with Mossbergs, more so than with Remingtons sad to say.

Anyway, had one of these 590Ms come in and thought I'd share my impressions.

First off, its your typical 590 mostly, so you get the safety and ergos right away.
I like the mag catch location and the fact it is ambi push button. It seems pretty flexible and has been easy to use so far.
Only thing i don't like regarding the shotgun itself is the dumby mag tube under the barrel. Yes i understand some tube is required for the pump action but it sticks out much further than necessary. Just seems like they could have done something. Either shorten it or turn it into say a flash light or even useable storage compartment? Something....

But the real star of this show is the 10 rd double stack mag.
Til now, factory VEPR12s were my favorite for 12g. This thing though is quite compact, holds a goodly number of shells, and is easy to insert/remove.
Better though, it feels built well. Steel feedlips and reinforcements, poly body is sturdy/solid, and it disassembles easily for cleaning. Inside it is simple and to me, simple is good.

Agreeing with you all, I'd like this style of mag for my Saiga 12 or VEPR12.
Also that a Shockwave version would be neat..think i'll hold out for one of those....or get to work cutting on a Shockwave's receiver to try and make my own haha.

As to mag prices for these, $100-$140 is just MSRP. Street price should be more in the $80-$110 range, which isn't far off from S12 & V12 mag prices.

Detachable shotgun mags have always been spendy.
