Default Show pic of your PSL/Romak butt stock substitution

I've had a PSL/Romak for several years now that I have not even shot! Reason is I'm left handed and the stock will cut into my check. I can't even get a sight picture using the iron sights. So I've been experimenting with making my own butt stock. My efforts have been slow due to lack of interest. Recently I've had a renewed interest in getting it done. Here's a pic of my progress so far. I do realize I could buy a Russian stock but what fun would that be? Would like to see what others have done to their PSL/Romak's.

I'll hit you with some pics after I get them uploaded to Photobucket

I have some unfinished wood that may be exactly what you are looking for

It's a folder that's a magpul Zhukov stock if you hadn't noticed mine has the square back receiver, so I can put any stock on it that will fit a sheet metal AK-47 receiver, which really opens up the options for this rifle.

Hey holescreek I remember when you did your PSL with the heavy barrel. How did they shoot and what kind of accuracy did you get with them???

Believe it or not I'm just getting ready to find out. I tried to fit accuracy testing these in between some other builds but stopped when I ran into pierced primers on both and a bad FP retainer pin on the wood stocked one. Things finally slowed down enough that I just loaded for both rifles with #34 primers and SMK bullets. The space gun has a .308 bore so it got its own loading. I'm hoping to get out next weekend with one or both if the weather holds.

cool let us know how they do.you motivated me to get mine done. you know you can get dies for the 7.62X53R which is the Finnish version and they did some mosin nagant's in .308 bore.i know about trying to get things done. i have had a few of my own. picked up a czech VZ-52 in 7.62X45 and i made some cases from 220 swift. i have some 6.5 mannlicer shoenaur to try next. the 220 swifts worked OK but a lot of work with no lathe.

I don't know if this is exactly a stock substitution, but I did alter my stock to have an adjustable riser.

Good idea and great fabrication of the adjustable comb.

Rhineland Arms. I used a Finnish pine tar method for the stock. Here's an old pic, long before I escaped to Idaho and ditched the CA bullet button.

This design would work for a lefty.

How she looks now (in bad light on a rainy day...):
