Here's where I am with it and why I do not see an issue. If you keep shooting it and it does not progress, you should be fine. I'd run another 500 rds and take another look. If it progresses, then maybe get another carrier. Mine stopped at the point you see here.

Good deal. Please post some pics afterwards.

I have the same rifle with considerably more rounds and yours looks slightly worse than mine does. But I don't think it matters either way. Now that you have pictures, you can see if it progresses. If it doesn't do much more that that, I wouldn't worry about it. Not worth the cost of shipping back to Arsenal and the time cost of waiting 8+ weeks.

And FWIW, I have about 9 AKs (SAM7sf, SLR107fr, WASRs, DDI, OPap, FM47 VEPR, SGL31) and my SAM7r tail looks the worst.

Updates from Arsenal:

Apparently my rifle was made in 2013, I bought it in 2016. Provided a receipt showing I bought it new in Dec 2016.

Final verdict: Give us $100 and we will fix it for you. They are trying to get out of fixing it under warranty because the shop they originally sold it to wasn't the same shop that I bought it from.

My final thoughts: Get f*cked, it's still under warranty. I'd rather put that $100 in my toaster than give it to slimy Arsenal.

As I stated earlier, I'm fixing this myself but I'm irritated that Arsenal doesn't back up their 1 year warranty.

Sounds like the Arsenal way. You can almost buy a new carrier for that. Typical for Arsenal.

Yep, K-VAR already shipped my new carrier. $109 and I won't need to wait a decade for arsenal to fix something I can do in about 20 minutes.

Nothing I hate more than companies not helping out their customers. Next time I look into buying another AK, this "wonderful" experience will be fresh in my mind.

What a coincidence, I bought mine in December 2016 and was made in 2013 as well.

My new Carrier and Hammer arrive on Friday. I used the original Hammer as practice, using a hand file. I will re-profile the new hammer with my new dremel.

On a side note, are there any advantage/ disadvantage to a polished bolt carrier? I have seen things like, "it rusts" or "it holds lube better", or "it's just aesthetically pleasing", but no clear answers. Love the look of a chrome carrier and would like to make my AK look ghetto fabulous.

Ground the hell out that hammer didn't you? That is where I would worry about rust.
And no. All metal rusts, how could it hold lube better and I like the clean look.

People will polish the underside of the bolt carrier that rides against the hammer, but not many people I've heard of, polish the whole thing. It would definitely expose bare metal to the elements. Look up Yugo NPAP bolt carrier rust. Rob Ski did a video on it. That is essentially what you would have if you polished all the finish off of a Arsenal carrier.

I personally wouldn't touch the finish on a Bulgarian Arsenal bolt carrier.

I would hope he would not look at the face of the hammer. Looks like he drug it on concrete.

That was before I got my new dremel (old one died). I since polished it and looks 100x better.

This was a dry run to get the shape right before I got my new hammer. for only $12 bucks I figured I would use the original to practice on to get a good profile.

Ok. Certain parts are only hardened to a certain depth. Got me?

Good luck with that. Arsenal's CS is the worst on the planet. Buy a case of good Scotch and 10 bottles of Advil before you engage that adventure.

Ok, new Bolt carrier and Hammer are in.

I used my new dremel, and took off as little as possible on the hammer. I think it came out well.
