Default Picked me up a WASR 10/63 UF

Pick up a not so common WASR under folder today. Sights are straight, came with some bfpu furniture, original owner bought it 20 years ago and only ran 400 rounds through it. I didn't realize Romania had a laminated, palmswell lower handguard. Looks like Russian, but has no tension spring, and has a steel "U" shaped insert near the front. We'll see how it shoots when I get some range time, but I'm liking it so far. I put on a homemade reverse dong lower, and polish upper handguard for now.

Looks great! I have a very nice one stashed away. I need to get a reverse dong or maybe some Russian handguards for it.

Nice reverse dongage,

That didn't sound right....?... But cool gun none the less. Especially for a pistol, unless it was an Anaconda or Python...

Thanks guys! I traded a Sig 229 for it, but it wasn't one I had a ton of money invested in. It was a fair trade.

Sweet WASR! Romanian AK's rule! P229's will be around forever, you can't get these so easily anymore. Although IMO, I think you may be slightly behind the trading curve TODAY. BUT, twenty years from now, who knows what that WASR will be worth? I say good trade.

Nice rifle. I have one myself that is all numbers matching. You did a great job with the dong.

I'm pretty sure though the original owner told you a flat out lie on how long he had it. They started importing these in 2006 or 2007 and stopped around 2010 or 2011. Nevertheless, they are rare birds and great import underfolders, especially when the correct furniture is put back on them.

Here is mine...

^^^ Very nice!!^^^
After a little reading, I did realize he either miss spoke, or miss remembered how long he had it.

Now you're just showing off. Please continue! Nice pair you got there. I dig the cobra weave on the Draco.

I had some time to sight it in at 25 and 100 yards, and its a very accurate shooter! Initial 2 rounds printed 4.5" low and 2.5" right and that's when I first noticed the front sight was ever so slightly canted to the left. (This tells me the original owner lied again about how great it shot at 60 yrds outside his door)After straightening it in a vice with wooden blocks and a brass drift, it now stands perfectly straight. This fixed my windage error, and kept the sight pin perfectly centered. After adjusting the pin down to group 3/4" low at 25, I was making easy hits at 100 on my 10" gong. 3" group with irons not to shabby!! I'm very impressed with this rifle!

Reason I asked is 'cause I have a 1972 WASR 10/63 UF. The bolt and carrier match each other but don't match the front trunnion.
