Default Built a Polish (11) Kit Rifle Today (UPDATED with Range Trip Pics)

My good buddy from the Files "Dave Williams" came over today to help me with the riveting of the receiver on my 1969 circle 11 kit from AoA with a WBP barrel. It was only supposed to take a "few" hours since the barrel was already populated and head spaced but ended up taking up the entire afternoon. We did work through a tornado warning with rain coming in the garage sideways and took a pizza break too.

I didn't think to start snapping pictures until we already had the trigger guard installed on the Childers CG1 receiver.

Here's how it looked this morning.

Our prep table with half-built receiver.

Front trunnion riveting.

Drilling out rear trunnion holes.

Rear trunnion rivets.

Installed side rail.

She just needs a coat of paint and it will be finished.

Dave Williams with the finished rifle. Thanks dude! I couldn't have done it without a major screw up at least without your help.

Thanks guys. I forgot to mention that after we got it together and put on the muzzle brake, we noticed that the FSB was too far back on the barrel and canted at that. I ran out of thread when installing the muzzle brake and when putting on a muzzle nut, it was flush with the end of the barrel with a big gap. We had to punch out the pins and push the FSB up a good 1/8" or so and drill the FSB pin holes. It must have been a Monday morning or Friday afternoon assembly. The barrel pushed in and out really nice so they did a good job with the barrel/trunnion mating.

From scratch it would take me the better part of two days with no issues. Using a 100% receiver of course.

As somebody who doesn't know shit about building and what tools to use it looks great.

I would have loved to just sit back and watch and learn.

I appreciate the comments and having someone right there that has the experience of many builds really helps with the learning curve. I've studied many videos from several forum members like Mel64D, Ginsboy2003 and bfgmovies and they make it look so easy. Someday I will try to be as good as them. Until then, I'll keep plugging away and learning from my mistakes as I go. I've made a few mistakes on other rifles already and I absolutely did not want to screw this kit up, so I leaned on an experienced builder so that I wouldn't have any regrets from an "oops" moment.

Geez, next time build a real rifle, not some itty bitty hasbro toy.

Wait, what?

So today was Range Day. You know, the day that will determine the success of our venture. Nice day with the temp in the 50's but felt like 70 to me. I needed to check my front sight block alignment and head space.

50 yards, iron sights. Good enough for me!

Now the final test!

See the red lacquer from the the ammo?

SUCCESS!!! WHEW!!!!! Actually the bolt won't even close on the GO gauge so head space is tight!

Time for sand blasting and painting but that will be a few weeks down the road. I will update this thread in the future.

WAIT!. That's not the end of the story for today. So when I come home from the range today, I see this box on the front porch.

It just happens to have my name and address highlighted in black.

Brought it in and little dog has to see what it is.

What's in the box Dad?

Can I help?

Uh oh. I've seen this wrapping paper BEFORE!!

Oh NO! HERE WE GO AGAIN!!! Another mouth to feed!
