Default need a tiny M85NP part

Well I'm an idiot. I took off the TWS dog leg on my M85NP and did not notice the pin or "latch" mechanism that locks down the gas tube. It slides for and aft when you lift up on the dust cover. I put a roll pin to replace the old rivet that holds the dustcover on and did notice that the fore and aft sliding latch, cam, pin or whatever you call it slid out who knows where. Anybody know where I can find one of these? Thanks

Velocity firearms might have some. If not, I made one by hand a while back out of steel rod. Functions perfectly, but it was a pain in the ass to do—can get you the necessary measurements if you can’t find one

Those parts will not work ak-ula. Serbian rifles with the hinged top cover use totally different type of plunger/top cover setup.

Does the M85 cover take a rivet?

I thought it was a grooved pin with a clip on it.

Not a rivet, it’s actually a pin with a head on one end, and a little ring that is a press fit for the non headed end.

Sorta..
At least on one I just got from velocity for my ak55 pistol build.
The ring was a slip fit over small end, but one side is dished around the hole and pin is touch long. Crushed it in vice and it swells and fills the dish some locking it on. Pin/rivet type thing. Wouldn't call it a rivet though. Peened over pin maybe..

I see Velocity sells the top cover hinge pin and ring.......what all is involved once the old hinge pin is dremeled / removed to install the new one? Might have to go this route with a new top cover to fix my screwed up rear sight

Also, does the M85 top cover fit the M92 the same?

Right, thatís what I noticed on the Virgin unit I have from my m85 kit, but I have another set that Iíve removed multiple times and it is more of a press fit ring now lol. Comes loose with a couple sharp whacks with a punch/hammer, but is plenty tight enough that it wonít come off without you trying to take it off

Yes they are interchangeable, m85 has an extra rivet up near the hinge but that has zero impact on function. What is wrong with your sight?

Slide ring over and squeeze both sides pin in vice, or press

Thanks

My Khyber customs peep sight install went as wrong as it could go lol.....the punch I tried to use to remove the factory pin snapped in half inside the sight ear pretty much flush, had to drill it out which expanded the the size of the pin hole.....then i wound up losing the detent spring for the sight and cant find another.........i used some metal gorilla glue and glued the sight in place but it breaks loose ever 2 or 3 range sessions so im just ready to permanently fix it if i have to buy another top cover and hing pin

It actually is a rivet. That ring is like a nut and you're supposed to flare the end of the rivet out so it's captured by the ring. Support the big flat end on an anvil of some type and gently hammer the other side with a ball peen hammer.

Or just put a roll pin in...no muss-no fuss and you can remove it if you need to with a lot less hassle. I can't remember the size I used...5/32"? Can't remember. A thousand or so rounds with roll pins in both my M85's and no problems.
