Default Manganese Parkerizing Solution

Looks like Palmetto Enterprises is no longer in business. Any other good place to buy Manganese solution.
Need to mix about 5 gal.
Midway is asking $64 plus shipping for 1gal to mix with 1 to 4 ratio. This is rather pricey.

Brownell's has Parkerizing. You can expect to get bent over with their shipping charges.

I've had very good results with the Manganese solution from Lauer Weaponry.

I liked it better than Palmetto, which was good.

That's what I use as well. If you happen to also use zinc park Grizzly is having a great sale:

http://www.grizzly.com/products/Zinc...1-Gallon/H9458

If you sign up for their email list you'll get free shipping as well.

Thanks all for the info.
I was not aware that Grizzly sells Parkerizing solution. $24 for 1gal of zinc phosphate is a good price.

Another question.
Can one spray bake on paint over manganese park, or it should be blasted and redone with zinc phosphate?

I have with great results. I just rinsed with tap water to neutralize the park solution and dried with a heat gun. Just be careful not to touch with bare hands. After parts were dried I sprayed them with DuraCoat. This method creates a great mechanical bound. The DuraCoat or Cerakote will not flake off but ware nicely.

You got no rust spots? I thought oil dip is a must.

Since the park is coated with paint no issue. Great paint bond. If park only then oil.

If you go strait to DuraCoat or Cerakote from park you will have no issues. You only oil it if the park is your only and final finish.

In a nut shell... Parkerizing is a rapid form of controlled rust. If gone un-oiled it will continue to rust unevenly hence the need for oil. If a finish is applied the finish acts as a sealer that mechanically bounds to the rust which is part of the steal.

This is actually one of the best/most durable ways to do a finish firearm steal.

..note sure if that helps.

I sent him email on feb 23 and he responded on 24th apologetically saying that he is no longer in business and he is divorced and no longer sells the product.

Go figure.
