Default Midwest Industry Side Rail optic mount, GTG??

Any recent users or purchasers of the Midwest Ak side rail optic mount?

Currently using a RS Regulate mount. But its gots issues; issue was identified, but after 6 days of waiting for a response from the manufacturer to assist in correcting it, and getting a one-line string of numerical gibberish in response to my email....

Well anyway, I've been eyeing the locking system between the midwest and RS regulate online, and the midwest seems, at least visually, to be engineered to allow a much more solid lock up.

Anyone ever lay eyes on them side by side for a real world comparison?

Side by side comparison...no, but have both the double ring and pic rail MI mounts. Levers are easy to operate and they hold zero.

The dude that owns RS is probably going to find this thread and fix you up, I’ve had great service from them.

They both work if there is something wrong with your RS Regulate you will be taken care of.

It might take some time.

Its a small business and life happens to us all.

That string of numerical gibberish was the tracking number to the replacement parts sent priority mail to you at no cost - after telling you on the forums and by email we would help you.

I’ve been paying attention to this from the very first moment.

And offered to help diagnose the problem
And promised to send him parts
And did do priority mail on our dime

FYI we didn’t wait 6 days either. I got a PM on 3/2, a confirmation email with shipping address from him on Monday and parts were prepped for shipment yesterday to ship today.

This is why customer service is such a difficult job. Some people are just too thick to realize when a product is excellent and so is the service. I mean installing a side rail mount with a hammer? C'mon dude!

RS Regulate>All others

OP, allow Horse to help you. He'll get you set straight.

Tracking number = numerical gibberish? That's hilarious!

I have. The RS Regulate is better. The Customer Service and Support is better too. MI has mocked and insulted customers online.

To his credit people - the only thing I answered back to his email with shipping details was the tracking number - with no other details.

I can see how that could be confusing.

I have both. 2 version of Midwest and 2 RS. RS is better in my opinion. RS rides lower and can be perfectly centered. Horse is always on top of handling issues also which is a big plus.

I've owned both. I bought an RS and was given a Midwest mount with another gun purchase...

Definitely go with RS. Their material is 10/10 and just "looks" more AK than Midwest.

And OP is nowhere to be seen...
As though he may have an agenda? Hmm...

He literally wrote an apology thread. Hardly "nowhere to be seen"

I don't think you can go wrong with either. I own both (2 Midwest Ind. & 4 RS)

It just depends on what your needs are. RS has a much greater selection of different styles that may suit your AK better while MI is a basic mounting system.

The only potential difference could be Customer support. I am not aware of how MI handles customer issues while RS (As pointed out here on this thread) is outstanding.

Great job Horse!

Default MI: Easy on, easy off, rock solid.

I bought a vepr AK47 with the side folding stock (FM-AK47-21). I called RS, they politely said their mount wouldn't work. I ordered a PK-01vs after the vendor said it would work: It didnt. Wouldn't slide past the hinge. Good optic, great value, though. I called MI, their customer service said it would work, and it did. Easy on, easy off; rock solid. I don't particularly care about "looking AK".

I did a MI setup on a Saiga .223 conversion back in February, running Burris Xtreme Tactical rings and a Nikon P Tactical scope for .223

So far no issues and after taking it on and off a few times, it's held zero.

I have an MI and it works flawlessly, and looks fine to me. The RS I have not tried, have not needed it. RS costs half what the rifle cost me and for my beater... . Maybe if I had a 1200 dolllar ak. Also have an ultimak on a draco w valdada rds, perfect. MI has been rock solid so far going on 5 years. Have not needed customer service but didnt use a hammer on it.
