I have a faxon barrel on my 5.45 build and it's been great. Very accurate and is holding up great to 7n6. I have zero complaints with it.

The Faxon isnít worth the small savings over a Bulgarian barrel.
Generally I'd agree but the one thing that may be important to some is that Faxon will be concentric; Bulgy may be.

i dont follow. The Bulgie barrel isn't threaded, the concentricity is with the FSB.

Many combloc barrels aren’t concentric. I’m not saying the threading, I’m talking about the bore. There are tons of videos on YT and elsewhere showing this in action.

Correct the bore on many hammer forged barrels is not true to the OD . this is not just on AKs , some Remington 700 barrels are so off the lathe shakes

It sort of makes you wonder how they could get some that far out of wack when clearly they turned the damn things for the journals its almost like they did not spin it on centers .

Agreed on all. I've seen the 700s on a lathe several times; seems about half are concentric which is simply atrocious for a US firearms company.

Default Faxon

I emailed them about the 1/2x28 threads. Just to be sure these were for AK's.

1 Yes they are for the AK "platform"
2 No they don't sell one without threads.
3 No they don't offer 14x1LH threads.

To which I told them. Your messing up and need to research their intended market abit more.

Cheers
MJ

There hammer forged interior and exterior and pretty sure the threads are roll formed and not cut.
It's how they can sell a remington 700 youth model so cheap .
Is got a $20 barrel.

I just got one of these barrels for a non conventional build so I actually like the threads with a shoulder that you can torque the muzzle device against.

But yeah, it's not a barrel you would build a clone with unless you wanted to clone a Saiga.

Another weird thing about it is the barrel is .590 from the handguard step down to the threads. That's like having a really long gas block journal. I'm going to need to chuck it in the lathe in order to install a front sight.
