Default Do any of you guys have this Northern Tool 20T Press

Does anyone here have this 20 Ton Northern Tool press? I need to know the ram diameter so I can order the Barrel Press Kit from /Curtis at AK-Builder. Not the diameter of the Bottle Jack which is 2". Mine is boxed up in storage.
Thanks!

My 20 ton press has just under a 1.5" ram. Go with the 1.5". The press tool comes with a tightening screw to fit it.

Thanks!

The correct answer for anyone else is for the particular press I listed above....
there is a steel plug that is 1 7/8" in diameter and is removeable. The shaft of the plug is .940" in diameter and .780" long. Curtis is going to make an adapter for me so I can use the 1" diameter Ram that he sells.

The HF 20-ton has a huge amount of play in the ram plate. I think he would be much better off with an A-Frame: http://www.harborfreight.com/20-ton-...ess-37999.html.

Can you go with a 12 ton or do you need a 20?

Bingo,

Sorry, but I got caught up in the discussion of presses and missed the part of your original post where you said you already own a press which is in storage . . .

IIRC, 1.5" should be the correct diameter.

Curtis is a good guy and has alot of patience as I had to call him 5-6 times over a week to get this right. When I bought this press, there wasn't a store display they just had two in a box. So I didn't get a chance to look at it closely.
