Default Starline Brass now offering 7.62X39 brass

Although I reload for many calibers, I don't do so for 7.62X39 as it's not really cost effective. However for those who do reload for this specific caliber, you may wish to check them out. Next to Laupa brass, Starline is probably the 2nd best brass out there.

Ooooh, shiny. And, per Starline, it should come ready to load.

Hopefully they'll get around to 5.45x39

Good to see, 5.45x39 would be better

Trouble is: empty Starline brass is almost the same price as loaded Boxer/brass Prvi ammunition.

Years ago Starline offered 7.62x39 cases and they were formed from some other cartridge case and had the original rim cut down.

A lot of work for 7.62x39 cases.

They really weren't a bargain and they they weren't factory 7.62x39 cases.

(Maybe it was Buffalo Arms.)???

Probably Buffalo Arms. They have done/do a lot of harder to find cases that way, and once upon a time 7.62 was hard to find.

Currently they do (or did, haven't looked lately) 5.45x39 from .30 Remington

Hopefully things will follow the same path with 5.45 as they did with 7.62x39 and Starline will be making brass at some point before very long.

If they are doing 7.62x39 they should run a similar case...

7.62x45 Czech. Guys would happily pay 45cents/case for that one.

It was sourced from a couple of different makers.

Not annealed properly or at all. Case life short due to cracked necks often BEFORE firing.

That's good to know. I bought a bunch of 1970s-1980s Lapua brass still in boxes and the guy gave me a box of 1980something Midway primed brass for free. It will go in the recycle bin.

Necks stress cracked in factory loaded rounds. If the brass is new and unloaded I would load it up and shoot it at least once before scrapping it.

Winchester uses S&B cases for 7.62x39 I believe and their factory loaded 7.62x39 ammo cracks cases but their virgin cases last me for several reloads.

S&B makes some of the weakest 303 British cases, but some of their others seem decent.

Their 357 Sig cases are bit suspect.

This is outstanding news, Starline is making solid attempts at introducing replacement brass for more obscure calibers. Starline brass is excellent quality for reloading and good pricing.

It's good to see them offering that. I'd very much like to see them offer 5.45 though.
