Default Tell me about this Norinco AK47 ammo --- Pictures inside

I got this ammo from a recent deal.
Anyone know any history behind this ammo?
Is this same junk as Russian steel case?
Not trying to sell or anything but what's the value of this ammo?

History? Imported in the 90s, then banned....

I wouldn't go so far as to call it junk, but unless you find someone to buy it for collectability it isn't going to fetch much more than the current going rate for X39 ammo.

The yellow box steel core ammo is more desirable.

It's fine ammo and it is not steel core, just as the box indicates.

Chinese AK ammo was imported for a few years then banned in the early 90s.

This ammo was manufactured in 1992 at plant 31.

Show it, shoot it or keep it. It's yours now!

It trades at prices above that junk Russian ammo you mentioned, which isn't really junk. Willing buyer and willing seller sets the price.

I love that nasty shit.

After a box your AK will look like you cleaned it with a turd. (I kid...kinda)

Yes! Nothing like rocking a Chinese SKS or AK with Chinese ammo.

Good stuff! Way better than poly coated Tula, now that I call junk! Shot 60rds of it through my SLR-107FR at 25yds way before I got my Poly and MAK-90, definitely more accurate than typical Russian poly or lacquer coated steel cased. Slightly tighter group than Golden Tiger as well.

I scored over 1k of this and 1k of Jing An x39, my SHTF/collector stash. Paid around $250 for all of it if I remember correctly.

You pry did have some steel core from 31 armory in 1992, If I remember correctly that is the year they crossed from steel core to lead core. Silver box is lead, box won't lie on that.. If when it doesn't say is only when to question content on 92 and earlier 90's.

Give it the magnet test. I have some in the silver box that is actually steel core. Some are labeled as lead, but are actually steel. Some of my silver boxes have a steel core label placed over the lead core description.

Magnet will find (attract to) a STEEL JACKET with a lead core. It is worthless to prove a steel core 100% of the time.

Some gun show jockey make stickers to rip you off maybe?

Bought a couple of cases back a long time ago for $89 a piece. Still have a few of those silver boxes around here somewhere. Decent ammo, no problems.
