Default AK Peep Sights

The only options I have found are the Mojo leaf, Tec Sights, and HK weld on.
Anything else to consider?
Pros and cons of the offerings?

Spend some time on the standard sights and they will surprise you. I was able to ring steel at 350 at the national shoot this summer. Not the best, just my personal best.

I have considered rounding the edges on the rear leaf a bit

I can shoot my full size AK's just fine with the factory sights, but my M92 benefited greatly from the Khyber Customs peep sight. I think it is mostly to do with how close the M92 rear sight is to eye and my aging eyes, vs a standard AK sight.

I have williams brand. There okay, but you need to paint the set screws with nail polish of some such to keep them from creeping lower.

Unless the peep is actually near your eye in the manner of an AR or m14, like the Tech Sights, its a fairly pointless endeavour.

Rounding off the corners and increasing the width of the notch is easy and I like it personally.

Take a file and put a v notch in the rear leaf and round the corners, then paint it a high contrast color, your welcome.

there are options to mount on dust cover, but is not good option because it moves too much, it's not good design unless provisions on rifle to secure the dust cover, but then it's different can of worm.

Rounding off the corners of the notch? Or am I missing something?

every look through a peep sight with mud, water, snow, ice, bark, glove lint , and any thing else that can and will happen ????

Not a AK but the first year I hunted with the family Winchester 30-30 I jumped a pretty nice buck when I was next to my dad . I pulled up and all I could see was blurry shit . the site was full of water and a small blade grass or something . I got it cleared to hear bang as my dad shot it .

Never again will I use a peep for any thing but target type shooting .

My one budy who served in the military told me of havening his full of mud once.

great for shooting paper .

lots of of other options for the AK and iron sighs .
a peep needs to be near the back of the rifle not on the RSB IMO .

AK battle sites very effective.

Recommendation: More shooting with irons!

I tried a Mojo and saw no real accuracy improvement, also had problems getting it to hold zero. I switched to Tech Sights and love them. With the 0-200 aperture zeroed at 200 yards, the flip up long range aperture is on at 300-325 yards. Return to zero after disassembly has been perfect.

::::wonders how long this thread goes until it gets locked for sexist remarks::::::

The Fuller / Krebs U knotck sights work very well with a thinned down front sight post

The standard sight is a rectangle with a notch in the middle. If you round off the upper right and left corners of the leaf it doesnt grab your attention as much and helps the eye look through the notch. Widening the notch itself helps as well, just dont overdo it.

If you look up "Fuller rear sight mod", you'll see what I mean.

(flushing sound) Aside from the lingering smell, "Bonnie" has left the building.

No problem. Good luck with your endeavours. Between doing that, and learning the "caveman eotech" technique, Ive learned to really love the leaf sights.
