Default Oh guru's of all things stabby and sharp (bayo question)

I dug what I thought (edit now believe its a Chicom repo) a real M7 bayo from a junk store over the weekend.

It was buried in a wooden crate and considering its in pretty good shape. Not one letter of writing on it however

Now it does fit my A2(ish) clone no problem.

But not the repro scabbard

So without further ado my question is any idea who made this one? And will a real deal M8A1 fit?

Looks longer than a standard M7, the "false edge" or "clip" on the top front edge is much longer than an M7.

No US issue scabbard will fit it.

99% sure it's a Taiwanese. Many of these were imported and sold at surplus stores in the 70's

I remember these at around $15 back in the day.

After comparing it to the photos online I was beginning to lean towards chicom. And your right its just a tad longer than my OKC3S.

Damn it paid $20

Looks a lot like the Taiwanese version of the M-7 for the Taiwan T-65 rifle. If that's what it is it's an actual combat bayonet and I pulled a lot of them out of crates in Panama during Operation Just Cause in 1989. They had they're own longer scabbard as well.

On that note I actually managed to track down a contract scabbard to mate it with. I'll get pics up after it arrives (and I find a new image hoster)

If they sold for $15 back in the 1970's, and you paid $20 now, that would generally be a real good score (assuming they weren't complete pieces of junk in the first place).

It does seem to be of decent quality. The Taiwanese copies were contracted for their Military (at least from what I've gleaned from the interwebz) do they should be well made.

Oh damn I forgot about this thread. Since your interested the scabbard I found is, unfortunately a Taiwanese M1 Garand contract copy. Not an M7 as was advertised and confirmed buy the seller via email. But in his defence I do believe the designation for this particular one is M7. So, should'a done a little more homework on my end.

Pics are a pain right now. Still can't figure out to upload pics to imgur (even with the app)

1) Hit the green "upload" button (in browser, I don`t bother with mobile)

2) Wait for it to load completely

3) Right-click on the image

4) Click "Copy image URL"

5) Paste said URL into the [img] brackets

6) Get yelled at by Nails for having too large pictures

I know this method works, I do it all the time.
