You could also carefully wide the front end of the bayo slot of the bayo doesn't fit right, as that is what they did to spiker stocks to convert them to para.
I'd have to say crossbolt to rear. But it is just a little. 1 Moderate tap with the rubber mallet and that thing was in an flush. I have to tell you man... I did not thing it was going to work... then I saw the serial number on the stock... it is an EARLY one 04000 series...

Shit! I don't even have to mess with the bayonet groove. I really got lucky. Beginner's luck I guess. I was so clueless... Thanks for all the info by the way.

If I were to sand it... is there a method to do this? Maybe painting the steel with something that comes of easy to see were the wood is stained... and go from there... I don't know... I can look it up on You Tube, I guess... but maybe you had ideas.

It looks great, I would not fuck with it anymore. The fit will be fine. Field strip after firing, the fit will wear in. like you say, the wood does not look distressed. I found a nice Yugo stock at the Gun Room in Portland. Used the butt half for an AK stock on a build. 25 bucks. 40 is a good buy for such good condition Chu wood. nice job. My current Factory 66 Norinco was a pawnshop find, 400 otd, came with a couple of aftermarket 30 rounders. Seems to be a thing around Oregon, the 30's. Second one I traded for in 5 years. Fired very little, great bluing. I keep my eye out for the wood , she is in a sidefolder, black glassfilled with a good lockup. A buddy gifted me a "made In China" 20 rounder with the Star on the side, still have original 10 rounder (numbers match) Russian SKS, with the Arctic birch wood are beautiful if you can find a nice one. They are addicting.

You can shave just a little from that channel in the rear of the stock where that retaining lug part slides down if you want, but it sounds like it doesn't need much if any. If you look inside the stock it's the channel about 1/2" wide cut vertically at the very rear of the cutout.

Here's a pic of my beater Chinese SKS. Total mixmaster rifle, but it's a sweet shooter, really handy, and always goes bang. The stock came from a bladed SKS, so I had to hit the cut out with a dremel tool and take a lot of material out, but in the end it all fit together.

Your bayonet is for a para and it is upside down.

It's not for a para - it's the angle of the picture that makes it look like that.

fuck-n-a I have a few para's as well. I want to glass bed my scoped one to see if it stops it from vertically stringing or if its just the scope being hit by ejecting casings
