Default Albanian tanker mags at APEX

Never heard of these Albanian 20 rounders. APEX had some in stock this morning but already OOS.

From the pictures, I don't really see any difference between these and Chinese 2+1 type 63 mags. Am I missing something here?

Comparing my known Albanian AK parts with Chinese, I see no manufacturing differences. I imagine the mags are no different.

That's interesting, any idea why their manufacturing is identical to China's? It seems like they would have more influence from closer countries like the former Yugoslavia, Bulgaria or Romania.

How does anyone know the difference between Chinese and Albanian mags or parts?

China was a big supplier of arms and political ideology, to Albania

^^^^ +1., China supplied SKS, AK and gear to Albania.
Albania did manufacture their own material with differences from Chinese as well. SKS, slings, etc.

The story is China set up manufacturing facilities in Albania. With the number of Chinese factories, it's easy to see them setting up one in another country like a franchise. However, one thing you can't import effectively is the culture and manufacturing experience, so I find it suspect that the parts are replicated so well, down to machining marks. This is the exact same situation as the Yugo/Iraqi partnership.

This becomes more apparent when you look at all the differences in the SKS.

My opinion is they imported parts, or barreled receivers and parts, and assembled/marked them at their (assembly)factory. It would be sort of foolish to build an exacting Chinese clone, when you can buy a Chinese rifle or parts for less all day long...

AS many pallets of magazines as we have been sorting thru, handling / counting in the last few weeks I really doubt that there are any more of the Albanians yet to be discovered.
Its why I held off listing them for 2 weeks, just so I had a good number to enter into inventory.
We always handle a lot of product in the summertime as we can stack pallets outdoors that are not normally that accessible.

Richard

Just an FYI, I may not be able to post any more as I was asked not to be the people that manage the site.
APEX is no longer a vendor here, and we don't intend to return to that status.
If you noticed, APEX is already locked out of everything on the "THE AK Forum" and our vendor section has been archived.

With the tough crowd here, I'm surprised we have any vendors at all truthfully.

Very good info here, thank you. I've seen a couple Albanian SKSs which are very easy to identify but wasn't familiar with their ties to Chinese manufacturing.

So with these specific mags, how would one know for sure that they're Albanian? It seems that anyone could list an old Chinese type 63 mag as Albanian and ask a premium. I've also seen 30rd flatbacks listed as Albanian and I wonder the same thing.

Those look like Type 81 or Type 63.
They don't function in AKM/AK47 without wrecking the rear lug with a Dremel
