This is everything I got packed into my 5.11 Rush 24. I didnít want a tactical bag but I wanted something heavy duty with a bunch of hidy holes and I really liked the bag when I checked it out at cabelas. You can fit a ton of stuff into it.

Thereís plenty of room in the bladder pack to shove a piece of armor in it but I havenít decided what I want to go with yet. Itís bugging me that thereís nothing in it right now. In the main compartment is a VZ-58 compact and 5 30rnd magazines, 1 in the gun, 4 in a surplus pouch that can go on my belt. A glock field knife. Not necessarily a med kit but has some wrap/gauze/medical scissors/band aids. That also could go in a better case than a bio ziploc baggie. Ear pro and thereís extra foamies in the side pockets to pass out if necessary

In the very front pockets are a sog multi tool, emergency beer coozie, head lamp in the top 2 and my P01 and holster are in a hide away in the large bottom front pocket. There are spare 75 magazines in a side pocket.

And you may be asking yourself ďis that a pair of boxers?Ē
Why yes, yes it is because if you need a new set of drawers itís a real emergency and Iím not above kicking ass without pants on but I wanna do in a clean pair of undies damn it

Got to admit, the boxers are a good idea.

Are those station wagon sheets?

Apologies for the late reply, I got mine from varusteleka.com, they`re a big time dealer in Finnish surplus, but it`s not appearing anywhere on their site. I`d suggest getting a hold of their CS and asking for Magnus, he did fantastic for me a little over a year ago.

I go commando personally. Tourniquet would be an excellent addition if you don't have one.

I contemplated armor as part of the setup and just transferring mags over to a plate carrier. Spartan Armor has some really good deals on AR550 armor right now. Part of me likes mobility though too and I haven't fully committed to the idea.

Thanks for reminding me, my buddy got me a tourniquet and splint kit for Xmas on his way through my territory. Iíll have to incorporate it.

I tried the commando thing, no good with jeans for me, didnít like the crotch seam on my sack when I sat down and came close to the zipper a couple times so I sub in boxers for the light thin barrier but still get the free bird feeling

Iíd like the multi hit capability of steel but I think itís gonna be way too heavy for what I want and like you Iím trying to keep this mobile and weight stacks up fast with a pistol +mags and a rifle cal pistol+mags. May have to settle on some soft armor itís better than nothing and light

An AR550 vest with 10x12 swimmers cut plates is right at 16 to 17 pounds with nothing else on it.

I think in an active threat situation mobility and speed would be the key. Cover and concealment if you gotta be stationary for a moment or two.

Iím looking for something thatís more made for bags, chances are if I need this Iím assuming Iíll be with my family and likely I will grab my ass kicker and mags and leave em with the bag a med supplies so that if all thatís around is concealment they can have cover or if nothingís around they at least have a barrier between them and everything else. I may just suck it up and grab an AR500 10x13Ē plate of I can find it since Iím the one carrying it 99% of the time

As far as light plates; I ar500 level 3+ in a bees systems slick carrier = 10lbs total front and back. I also have another bees combat slick carrier with armour wear level 3+ light weight plates that’s is 9lbs front and back. Both offer most common rifle protection and in he slick plate carriers are low profile. Both can be worn under a jacket with little evidence. I like not because I want to be a super spy, but because in an emergency I don’t want to look like seal team 6 running around. Not my mag carrier bags are slim line and don’t scream “tactical”. They could be mistaken for man purses.

Those who`ve been in my circle of friends for extended periods will tell you - if something is green and black, I`ll be the first on it, which is why this caught my eye. I snatched it off the rack at Goodwill and a Tactical Tailor logo caught my eye, as did a $9 price tag.

Best believe that bitch came home with me, and it was only tonight, when I really began thinking about it that I realized just how much of my stuff is green and black. I wear Frog colored T-shirts and one of two black coats, or a black shirt and green coat. My hat is green, my AKS74 has green handguards and a black finish on the metal. My two EDC knives (pictured) are green and black, and green and grey. This is getting ridiculous.

Thank you! With the advice of some LEO/SWAT/MIL friends I got it loaded this morning and went for a test drive while running errands around town. With the shoulder strap hanging it behind the seat of my truck it actually managed to slip and hang cockeyed. That was good though, because the shoulder pad was put just in place to support my back while driving, hah!

Update to keep this thread rolling:

I`ve gotten in touch with a friend who does a lot of sewing and posed to him the question of adding MOLLE webbint (or at least velcro sheeting) to a specific compartment inside my bag to better organize mags. With velcro I can use adapters for rifle mag pouches, or if I think the order of the day is a 12-gauge, I can just slap a couple ESSTAC shell cards on the interior.

The fanny pack has extra batteries for the surefire. I keep the g2x and the vltor mount in there also. Plus my gerber, a headlamp, sharpie and an old starbucks gift card. I keep my ear defenders clipped on but need foamies ir rather some electronic muffs.

My hiking/3 day bug out bag is usually in the car. I sometimes use the yugo day bag instead.

Im not really sure of the threat Ive been in active shooter situations (false alarm on campus) was helpless shetering in place it sucked. Having a go bag/gun with 200 rds seems like a good thing to have.

A look at some of the basics.

Need to get around to getting a few things, pack some more food, a small prybar or earthquake tool. Extra power for phone etc.

The scenerio I imagine the most, the most threating to me, is hearing about some kind of attack shooting at the school. I have 2 little ones in 1st and kindergarten. Im about 5 min away doing the speed limit...

Theres this idea going through my head, imagining taking on a church shooter type amd being taken by mistake. A polizia vest seems like a safty precaution. Would a police vest with "militia" be a good idea? Haha no but in a crazy situation ones safety is not a priority. The closest Ive come to feeling that is being one of a few first responders when a dual fuel/oil tanker crashed and rolled in front and remember looking back at my family as I ran up on it imagining it exploding. The truck was upside down and we had to pry the door with several guys with a shovel to get him out.

I imagine combat is even crazier staying rational and calm. I have a wife and 4 kids and would have zero qualms doing anything to protect them. Getting back into a preparedness mindset is my goal.

The trick is to also look like the kind of person who`d play uke or violin. Just like seeing a 350 pound hillbilly with a "Kill `em All" hat, mossy oak T-shirt and carhartt overalls standing there with a tennis racquet case. Unlikely he plays.

The bag/case has to fit the person just as much as it has to fit the rifle. This is why I use a tool bag. Working where I do, and dressing how I do at work, and away from work, a tool bag looks right on me and in my car. A violin case or a tennis raquet bag would not.

That was the order of the day at my last job. I was a renovator, and kept my stuff in a teal Makita bag. It was the only one of that color and sat on top of the pile everywhere I went.

Made so updates to my pack taking into consideration a few recommendations here as well as changing weather conditions and needs.

Changes to the pack contents:
Removed some cold weather gear, I usually have some in whatever vehicle I am driving and it’s easy enough to grab and go if I need it so it’s been omitted
Removed the pistol and mags, I’ve been carrying it anyway so just omitted it from the pack anyway as it’s usually on my person with sore mags
Updates and upgrades
Not pictured, I’ve invested in a better light stream light Protac 1aa was on sale at primary arms for $35 so grabbed a couple and one is going on the pack
The med kit ha been updated with a waterproof hard case, multiple trauma bandages, tourniquet, tape, medical scissors, self contained razor blade things. Have a splint but no real good way to stash it in the pack, it’s too long so doesn’t fit well.

Now the real question, AR500 is on sale $45 for 9.5”x13” backpack plate, it’s 10#, the light plate is on sale for $99, same dimensions but somehow it weighs 8# with increased multi hit rating of M80 ball at 2850fps vs the M80 ball at 2780 of the heavier more affordable plate.

As the pack sits right now with the heavier plate I’ll be around 28# and 26# with the lighter plate

2# difference worth the extra $55? I’m the only one usually carrying this thing fully loaded and it’s not too bad right now

I've made some changes.

No more AR pistol, back to a Kalashnikov. Still 5.56 though.

I found a pack that fits my needs, and is very well made. Lots of good features without looking too tacticool.

I am still using the Midway 4 mag bandolier (minus the mag pouches on the back) for extra munition. Both fold up nicely in the pack.

Sits nicely in the front car seat and next to me at work.

Picked up this "pistol grip shotgun case" from my LGS a while ago that looked like it would fit my AKMS with the stock folded.. and it does perfectly.

Here's the link for one if anyone's interested. Hadn't heard of this company before I got the case. https://byallen.com/product/pistol-grip-shotgun-case/
