Default How good is a Smersh vest?

Hey I've seen how Smersh vests are laid out and would think it would be cool to test one out. What does everyone else think about em? Is it worth the money? What are the downsides? Anyone done testing on one? I think it'd be cool to see how it stands next to a us lbv which I would say is equivalent.

Smersh is more war belt than best. I have a few of them and love them, but your not going to use it with a ruck, small backpack, yes, ruck no. If setup correctly it's very comfortable, I use mine for hunting mostly.

If you want a vest SSO makes a few really good ones, I really like the nuker.

Going from carrier to belt system took a bit to get used to, however i wont be going back. ill put the Smersh over my PC if it came down to it in a class or event. You cant go wrong with it they are pretty tough mine has survived everything I've put it trough and still looks fairly new.

On a side note the older Smershes are considered Gucci AF.

And as Lcpl said its a belt system that works well, SSO makes plenty of vest types i have tried the Chestrig "Lazutchik" that i plan on nabbing at some point as well. You cant go wrong with any of thier products depending on what you want it for.

What do you Smersh users do for a pistol? Looks like the belt system has no room.

A dropleg holster will clear the mag pouches.

Or you can just build your own battle belt setup that includes a holster and the capability for carrying anything else you might want like an aid kit and whatever else.

Smersh looks fine if you just have to have a surplus Russian setup.. An HSGI battle belt setup is going to be more flexible, useful, and just function better overall.

Yes, I use a drop leg with my LBV setup.

I've always ran an lbv rig so it would be interesting to see how the belt system feels

So, Smersh AK holds 6 74 mags per pouch, that's a total of 12 and that's a ton. I actually put my pistol on the one side and run 6 on the weak side. Gives me room for medical on the stong side.

If you buy an extra 12L pack you can run a butt pack and a small back pack it's a ton of gear that you can carry on just that rig, and run for a while.

For AK specific gear the SSO/Sposn gear is the best. No US company is really doing a great job on AK stuff other than one or two things. With my Smersh or other SSO gear I'm using plenty of US made gear on the same belt, Safariland holster, HSGI Blowout, bottle carriers, ect. It's just as versatile as a lot of US belt systems honestly, but has a few nice extras you don't see here.
