Default Galil Issues

Took out the galil today. Third time I have shot it. Having issues. Anyone have an idea what is going on? Tried Tapco and IMI surplus mags and had this issue all around.

Can you post up a pic of a mag inserted and the bullet guide? Has it done this the other two times and did you switch ammo?

First round chamber good? Eject fine?

Mag lips sitting flush against the bottom of receiver rails?
Is bulletguide sitting flat in receiver?

What barrel and receiver were used? Gm? Awo?
Pop the top and lets see the breach face..

You own a go gauge?

So I did kind of notice as I post these photos the rounds don't sit consistently in the IMI mags. There is noticeable mount of movement of the rounds in the IMI mags. The rounds in the tapco mags seem to fit rather well and snug.

Not Feeding~

Wrong or incorrect bullet guide or placement.
No chamfer on barrel breech face.
Magazine / magazine fit / trigger guard mags stop angle~

Your bullet guide looks different than mine.
My factory Galil bullet guide has more chamfer / angle where yours if a flat or step...

I agree with cal 50...bg does not appear to be a factory bg.. for sure has a longer flat on it...with that and questionable mags.
mags might be more of the issue than the bg..
Cant tell me that tapco mag locks up solid with no side to side wobble..
And i have had imi mags that "looked" great but fed like shit.
Just need new springs..and followers lubed.
It appears the mags are sitting flat against rails..and if the mags lock up good in tight(no mag wobble front to back) id say mag catch is good.

Short stroking?
Small gas port or port not aligned with gas block.
Crap in gas port.

Extractor and spring move freely and not binding?
Ejector long enough ?

Chamber looks dirty as hell..
That with a worn ejector claw/spring.
Deffinetly will cause fail to eject.

556 is more finicky then 7.6239 do to its straight case vs. Tapered case. When it comes to extraction.

Polish chamber and new extractor/spring.

The bullet guide looks too short, front to back, or too far forward.

I have to agree from how Im looking at it.

I had some older AWO/ORF receivefs as well as a older cnc receiver that had the bullet guide drilled out too from causing fhis problem. Something to consider.

Pretty sure your bullet guide is the issue.

My receiver pictured is a Tortort and the Galil ARM bullet guide fit correctly ( perfectly ).
Hand tightening a barrel in the receiver and inserting a mag with the trigger guard assy in place it feeds rounds by hand smoothly.

Thanks all, I did buy the bullet guide from Apex. Any Intel on a factory new one?

What sucks is I dropped $300 last week as the sights were off 5 degrees and the barrel had to be pulled.

Hopefully, the builder will make it right for you.
I had a similar problems (and then some) with a recent build.

Galil's are not very generous with front sight windage and you can run out of travel quickly with a canted front sight / gas block.

Get a proper bullet guide and look where the hole centers up in your receiver......

A little more update, as i didn't get to post some additional issues yesterday.

I got the galil in 2017 as a build kit. CNC Warrior receiver.

Blackthrone parts kit, ended up only using the bolt and gas tube as the kit was garbage.

I shot the gun twice in 2017 after getting the build back. After the roll pin fell out of the gas piston during shooting in mid-2017 I told my self I would fix it later. Life happened, I submitted the tax stamp in August 2017 and sat until approval in March 2018.

I sent the gun in to a local smith who is a co-worker of mine a few weeks ago who is very well versed in galils and has built a few him self. All I did was give him the job of cutting the barrel extension and fixing the roll pin, which should of been a $80 job.

I found out that the front sight was off 5 degrees of indexing. The barrel was so tight that any more the receiver would of been damaged. The barrel had to be pulled and the front sight was realigned. The job ended up costing me $300.

I shot the rifle twice since getting it back two weeks ago.

Hope some of this background helps. I want to get as many issues figured out before I have to drop more money into this rifle as I really want an Aimpoint.

Thanks

Bullet guide too low or sitting back under the barrel.Rounds are hitting the bottom of the barrel .Shim the guide or cut the ramp and weld it back on the guide
