Just got back, same doe and fawn walking my property. Finally seen a button buck out of range. Lots of small deer this year reported at the mom pop carry out. Will venture out this evening.

I've been back long enough to make a couple posts. It was chilly this morning. I saw a small forkhorn but let him pass. I didn't see my does this time but I was on the other side of the blue corn field. It got warm about noon, close to 80, so I walked out of the woods to my tractor and grabbed the .32 flintlock and got me a mess of squirrels.

I was going to go back out this evening but couple friends stopped by so I'll wait until tomorrow.

Love to see that .32

Finally starting to get some cooler temps by the river. Have the 870 ready to collect some bushy tails for a nice serving of dumplings

Nice Flashy,
What part of the state did you get him?

My archery season was a complete bust.
I did see a few buck, but small and if legal, Barely so. I passed on 2.

My rifle season sucked big time too. I saw one doe after 4 days, came home from up north and hunted in SW Pa. Got this doe on Sat so had some jerking meat.

Instead of going back out for rifle, I climbed into my residential treestand 30 yards from my back door with my crossbow.
As the garbage collectors came about 7:30, I believe they spooked this guy who ran but stopped 15 yds under my treestand.
I shot and I watched him run about 90 yds or so. Damn, I thought I screwed the shot when he ran as far as he did.
No pass through with the bolt.
I found him at about 100, no exit wound. There was very little blood till he dropped. Found the bolt at 50 with no head. Never did find it.

The steep down angle took out one lung and his opposite leg was broke so I believe the bolt either broke his leg or penetrated enough to break it as he ran.

I'm just glad he ran that direction and didn't die in front of the school bus stop.

This is my rifle season archery deer.

Sepa, Ok. Really nice rack. congrats.

SwPA has always been if you can find them in daylight. They aren't like corn fed Ohio monsters I've seen pics of but pretty decent sized racks for woods, residential deer that feed on rich peoples shrubs.

Two years ago, I had 10 different bucks on my trail cam 30 yds behind my house and didn't get a buck that year.
2 were nice shooters, 3 others were legal but smaller.

Most of them aren't monster huge, but very nice large racked animals.

The body on my buck was fairly small and dressed out at 138 but seeing the spread at 20 feet up, I didn't hesitate. nor did I have to count 3 points up.

I shot a bigger racked buck 3 years ago but he busted me, looked up at me full frontal. As I pressed the trigger going for a shot between the sternum and front shoulder, he spooked. I tracked him 700 yds and ran out of blood. No recovery.
I saw him on my cam 2 weeks later limping but moving along ok.
Never recovered the bolt.
