That's the price around here for it, anything surplus in a spam can get's marked way up, 5.56 is anywhere from 50 to 75 dollars more for 1k rounds. The deals are always online, even if you reload the deals are online. Graf and sons has been good for picking up my 9mm and other pistol components.

Well I can agree with that.
223 wolf there was about 30 cents . He had a shelf full of it.
Natchez is a good place to get a lot of things including optics.

No I bought no ammo.

Considered a savage 222/20 GA over under.

LOL.

YES there is sales tax on ammo you don't have to buy out of the trunk of a car in a alley.

If I'm getting a case of something I'm likely ordering it in.
Powder and primers Im lucky to have a good place near by.

I'd consider a cheap case of 5.45 just to have for the tantal kits I'll stuck together some day.
Although a 223 conversion has not been ruled out on one with a bad barrel

Seems AK-74s are going to dry up long before 5.45 does. Besides the Ruskies it seems like most countries that were using them have since joined NATO. Bulgaria, Germany, Poland, etc. Russia is the last remaining country producing them. In light of Arsenal no longer selling 104s, Saigas gone, and the price of parts kits going up it may be time to search for a more sustainable alternative to the AK-74 entirely.

They're still being produced, by more than just Russia; they're just not coming here....

unfortunately no. The only thing that ukraina produces is garbage. As in trash. And in certain regions situation with trash removal is so bad that they have trash flowing in the streets because the majors embezzled all the city funds and have no way to get it out. Just google Lvov+ trash problems. you would not believe your eyes.

as far as 5,45 production Donezk and Lugank are cranking 5,45 or regular bases. As soon as some sanctions maybe lifted we will see the factory 270 5,45 coming in. I can only hope.

and

onwards to 100!

I didn't say it did us any good, just saying more than Russia is making them.

Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, North Korea and Romania are still making them. Many more are still using them.

Bulgaria is NATO though and using 5.56mm AR-M9 rifles. You're right about romania though. They're making and using AK-74s but how long before they go 5.56 to keep up with NATO as well? It seems NATO has been doing more to kill the AK-74 than anything else. Ultimately though it's not the lack of ammo that would have me seeking other options but the lack of rifles and parts not that the 7.62 AK market is in much better shape but at least some people are trying to make new parts.

Bulgaria does still produce 5.45 rifles for their own military and foreign militaries.

It's also worth noting that SLR-104s aren't gone for good. They've halted production on civilian contracts in order to fulfill military contracts mkre efficiently. Once they get caught up on their .mil contracts, they'll return to civilian contracts. That means the whole SLR line will come back in full strength eventually, including the 104 series.

The outlook still doesn't look too great. The rifles will be gone much sooner than the ammo ever will.

If there is a market for 5.45 AKS then AK makers will make them .

trying to not be insulting but it seems there a low priority right now.

Quite the opposite. Arsenal can't make them fast enough to fill military contracts. Once those contracts are filled, they'll switch back to making 104s for us lowly civilians.

I would say the question is "IF" those contracts ever get filled. The fighting over there doesnt seem to be slowing down anytime soon.

So does Arsenal make and deliver 7.62x39 rifles?
Are they in short supply?

^ Yes, they still make x39 rifles. Quantify short supply. Arsenal Bulgaria has contracts across their product line and are working overtime filling military & police contracts, both domestic and foreign.

Government contracts keep the lights on; civilian sales is just a way to keep production up between contracts.

Oh you surely don't want one of those because they're even more inaccurate than the 5,45x39.5mm rifles.

12-18" groups at 600 yards is WAY too inaccurate to hit a man sized target, agreed. (Sarcasm.)

As I said before, a good comparison would be the K98 or SMLE, and 8mm and .303. That Is where things are headed rapidly for the 5.45.

It was an imagined need to begin with, and was no real improvement on the 7.62x39. The ruskis just got ".22 envy" because we had one. So it is headed for military obsolescence, world wide, Russia will cling to it for a while though.
