These barrels are not a one time "just found" opportunity, I just spoke with the folks at M+M industries and they have more coming in, imported pre-threaded directly from Romania. As Rforbus confirmed, these do have journal stamping. My tail is wagging !!

Let's just hope that centerfire doesn't raise the price on the next batch because the last batch sold so fast. With that being said, can we buy them direct from M+M and skip the middleman markup? A group buy maybe?

Now the Romy barrels are $160 and available.
The Romanian kits will go up $100 each. Just kidding.

When I saw the M+M packaging I had a single concern. A few years ago they decided to go around Century Arms and have Cugir (I guess more appropriately Romarms) build contract-price AKM's and these were correct to AKM design same for a much larger diameter in the area between the front sight and the breech journal. Why? Who knows, as it gained nothing but the creation of a bastard. I remember well since a customer of mine was repairing one for his customer and had to return his plate tool for modification to clear that area - it was nearly the diameter of the breech journal.

Century received news of this, tossed a fit and threatened a suit ($$$$$) since they believe themselves to be the sole contract importer of items from Cugir.

M plus M claims they are the importer of these barrels and pesold this 1st shipment to their several distributors. M plus M will sell direct for msrp but won't undercut nor compete with their distributors, who do pay less. MSRP is 195 per barrel or 550 shipped for three from M plus M

No pre-drilled gas port holes on these barrels. I may have incorrectly gambled and this CFS deal might have been the lowest price will see these barrels ever.

They sold the first batch to their "several distributors"? Who else besides centerfire got some of the first batch?

was probably just as well, as m+m imported a "bastard" 5.45X39 model too that did not function very well from most reports I've read.

I didn't ask as I am personally just waiting for the dust to settle. M plus M maybe puffing themselves up and maybe not The exclusive importer as they alluded to ? dunno.

So far everyone I have spoke to has received all 2's. These are definitely new production. Edges are still sharp.

As a novice, can someone tell me what the 2222 proof marks mean?

Because of production tolerances barrel journal sizes and the sizes of the holes in the barrel components can vary. AK barrel journals and barrel components are numbered 1 through 4 depending on their size. For example, if you have a number 3 sized barrel journal you'll want to put a number 3 sized barrel component on it. Number 2 is considered "blueprint" spec, anything above or below number 2 is a size that isn't "blueprint" spec. It's very common to see barrels with several different numbers on it, like a number 1 by the gas block journal, a number 3 by the front sight block journal, etc. You want to put the right size barrel component on the right size journal to get a correct interference fit on the barrel components.

They are threaded in Romania, another importer said that the Romanians have been offering these for awhile.

The fact that M&M is involved scares me. I'm glad I kept my old stock Milsurp barrels. I'm sure others won't agree but I would prefer using the earliest imported Romy barrels with batch codes and igors drunk ass stamping the same proof mark 10 timed because he Forgot he already stamped it.

I have one that has a batch code that was attempted to be stsmped all the way around the barrel / trunnion journal until he finally completed the whole thing. Strange

M&M imported some non milspec bullshit awhile back, you can tell Because the barrel journal is longer I think

I hope everyone that bought the barrels to resell them for twice the price gets stuck with them because everyone knows what they paid for them and the news is out that more are coming. Death to scalpers.

They ones I received look good. A finer finish that the older batch of virgin barrels. Less proofs and no y mark to be seen etc, and no batch code as noted.
The price is decent and availability will lift some of the Romy kits to new heights of cloning.

The handguard side retainer slots are cut. The handguard locking lever cut on top of the barrel is not cut.
