Default Kashtan 2 Optic Info? (WPA branded)

Hello fellow AK fans,

Was wondering if anyone has any info on the Kashatan 2 branded by WPA. I'd rather have a regular issued Kashtan, but it looks kinda interesting with the circle chevron bdc reticle

Thanks,

From what I gather it is the WPA branded version of 1P78-1P but I have not seen one up close and personal.

1P is a very handy optic and appears to be every bit as tough as 1P78

Looks awesome, i almost went nuts when i was deciding between this and new ta44 acog.
Wish it had the same mount as on PO 4x17, would of been a nice low package.
SPB how do you feel about that eye relief?

I find that 1.5" works for me once I adjust it on the rail for my personal stock setup.
After that it is pretty comfortable, and I can can put it on target fast.

Thanks guys!

I'm also trying to decide between this and the PO4x17 - if I could I would get them both and many more...

Spb_la, you know if you can remove the rear flip cover and replace with the usual eye cup or is the body designed completely different?

And is there a way to estimate range finding with that particular reticle?

Desinoru, the way i see it:
Versatility goes to Kashtan, in my opinion that 2.8x magnification is perfect. But it sits a bit too high for my comfort, im only 5'9.
Comfort goes to PO, that thing sits very low, especially on zenitco b33. Maybe someday we will see one with integrated side mount just like PK-01VS. I find x4 magnification to be a bit too much in most situations.
Hard decision to make, but i think if you know what you want, you will make a right decision based on your needs.

In theory - I see no problem removing rear cap, the issue is finding rubber piece that would match the diameter of rear tube.

For range estimation - this pic provides some guidance

If I had to go to war I'd take Kashtan over Po 4x17 but for most things that we civilians would do PO 4x17 will be more useful because of the reticule pattern

4x is fine for a combat optic but 2.8 and wider FOV is better, and is a good compromise between magnification and quick target acquisition

These days I prefer the higher head position of the Kashtan over the PO 4x17 too I guess. it can be hard to get used to but I think after a while some of us prefer the higher AK cheek weld

just to clarify, WPA is not the brand, they are using this as an excuse to be able to bring NPZ gadgets (the actual manufacturer) who is under direct sanctions.

just like last year when they WPA brought in Gen 3 NV PN-23, huge WOLF preformance arms and ammunition logo on it, while reading the Russian manual its all NPZ made.

as far as PO 4x17 vs Kashtan, its a hard decision to make....i own both and like them both. One of the benefits of the PO 4x17 is that you have easier time hitting smaller targets further away.

if you have your Kashtan zeroed correctly for the 400 meter zero....

wait...are we talking about the standard military 1p78 or is this civilian version without the military reticle?
