Default Arcus Pistols

I'm planning out my future purchases, and after speaking to a deal I've run into these Bulgarian Arcus pistols. Seem to be double action Hi-Powers coming in two models and two colors. Quick browse around the net says people are pretty happy with them and that they are pretty popular over seas. What are your guys thoughts? Anybody own them on here? I think this just jumped on on my list right behind a new makarov.

mobetta8 - I don't own one of the Arcus Pistols, however, I haven't seen any negative comments or reviews anywhere on them. The Zastava line of pistols, made in the former Yugoslavia, seems to offer some quality pistols also at reasonable prices. The Arcus has allways caught my attention, and it has been imported for several years. I would think that either arms manufacturer would be of military grade quality, as these are both arms produceing plants - that make the Arcus and the Zastava pistols, as far as I am aware. A Bulgarian Makarov is also a interesting side arm. I have a Russian Makarov, but in .380. Back to the Arcus however - at face value, they seem to be a reasonable purchase and should function well.

I have herd and seen the same. All positives, I'm probably going to snatch one up here soon along with either a mak or cz 82. Going with the arcus I'm more prone to get the bulgy mak because its slimmer and arcus is hi cap. Like the cz-s capacity, chrome lined poly rifling barrel. Has been a tough choice for me considering I can get either both about the same price and that price point is extremely attractive.

The Arcus is not "hi-cap".

The Browning Hi-Power was designed with a 13-round magazine, and over its lifetime, that magazine design has been improved by the factory to hold more.

Can we PLEASE stop with the "hi-cap" this and "high cap" that?

There's no such thing.

It's a "legal" definition that was doublespeak from its inception.

When you use the term, you are just forwarding the anti's agenda. . .

And What would you have me (well all of us really) say then?
I dont think of 13 round mag as hi cap in the first place, I guess I said that because i was thinking about the mak and that holding 8.

On topic, I meet a new dealer today and he said he wants to bring in a couple so I'll be able to go hands on with these puppies soon here. I'm very interested in these and they are proably going to be my next buy.

Well, we graybeards used to say "double stack" and "single stack" before the decade of the AWB brought all those made-up words and twisted concepts into our culture.

No gun designer ever sits down at the drawing board with the intention of creating a gun with a "high capacity" magazine. They choose the best capacity for the guns intended usage.

I call it what it is: a "Glock 18 magazine".

The Glock 18 has a fully automatic setting, so you can see the need for 33 round magazines.

I don't know why Glock produced it.

I can only assume they produced a 33-round magazine to feed their fully-automatic pistol because 34 rounds was one round too much in testing . . .

. . or for a myriad of other reasons.

Bottom line: Glock produced the magazine specifically for use with a Glock pistol.

Your other examples (if not produced by Beretta or Sig for use in their firearms), are the sole examples of when the term "high capacity" should be used. Unfortunately, the term has been poisoned by 10 years of the AWB, and its meaning has been besmirched.

Memory serves, It was created at special request of either a special forces unit or counter terriorism unit. As far as everything else goes, I agree with you to an extent and yes, I do not think a 13 rounder is a high cap, like I said I just wasn't really paying attention to what I was saying and my mind was on the mak has a single stack mag of 8 rounds. thus 8 -13 as to 13-30, can you see where my mind was at? However I dont disagree with you in regards to how often the term is used. In my mind a 30 rounder in a pistol is hi cap, where as a 30 rounder in a rifle is standerd. Ithink its more important to look at that on a per platform baises.

my thoughts

Your brain's been washed, and it is carrying out the anti's agenda.

This pistol does not use a "high cap" magazine. The 30-round magazine capacity was designed for it.

This pistol does not use a "high cap" magazine, eiether. 30 rounds is the normal payload, as intended by the designer.

Let's not forget these fine pistols, all designed to use 32 round magazines:
Shown with the 12-round magazine shipped to facilitate concealed carry

How can you call our very own AK a "high cap" firearmı? 30 round mags are standard.

No designer sits down at the drafting table with intentions to create a "high cap" firearm. Your attitude of "pistols shouldn't have large number of rounds available, but it's okay in a rifle" just tickles the antis, because now they know they've convinced you that mag capacity should be regulated based on appearance [you've regulated them yourself with your statement].

Please stop advancing the anti's agenda.

[1] Don't answer that if you live in a ban state. You're just screwed so either vote or move.

I don't know about the storm or Sig but Glock and Beretta both make a full auto version.
Actualy the Beretta is a 3 rd. burst.
Both designed for the Nave, just not ours. They figure its better for a seaman to defend against boarding of their ships with a "fa" pistol than a carbine or sub gun. Much easier to go down narrow corridors and such.
I can't remember the Beretta's model # but its a hopped up 92 with a fold up front handel, kinda looks like a cheese wedge.
John Travolta used one in the movie "Broken Arrow".
Wish we could have them here.

That would be the Beretta 93-R (raffico [Italian for rapid])

I never once said that I dont think pistols should have more than X amount of rounds so dont put words in my mouth nal. Besides that, I am not furthering any agenda for any reason regardless of how manys times a pistol goes bang. I have, do, and always will beat to my own drum and make my own decisions. I will never be horded or locked down like the masses. Your talking to a Marine nal, not some yuppy high st doushe or some bureaucrat.

Regardless... I've gotten hardly any intended information that I requested. I would apprecaite more information on topic please
