Default Buy Galil vs Building Micro

Thoughts on buying a ACE pistol ins .223 or building a micro?

I know building a micro is a project and expensive, but i just love the real micro's feel. I shot a full auto at a MG shoot back in Sept. and loved it.

BTW i already have a Galil SAR
or should I just get a MP5?.

Thoughts.

Im a builder so I would build

But if you want something ready to rock n roll, feel the same as a micro....then buy the ace pistol with the folding stabilizer. You can convert the bottom end and swap out stocks if you sbr.

MP5?......well Id just pass on that....thats my 2 bits

You could always buy an Ace pistol, and then swap some Micro Galil parts onto it too. Handguard, gas tube, topcover would all swap out. Late production Micros had the left side charging handle and even the FNC style dustcover.

Nothing is wrong with the MP5.

I have one on the way as I type.

Some here don't see the point to a 9mm carbine/ pistol with a brace.

I do.

I also have an SBRs in 7.62 x39 so I have that already covered.

You guys get so offended.....Gees

Here I will quote myself if you are having a hard time reading my post...

"MP5?......well Id just pass on that....thats my 2 bits"

Where is the "Wrong"????

I sold the bulk of my HK stuff and moved my funds to other areas of my liking. I like the MP5 but enjoy the UZI platform better. MICRO, MINI and standard sizes for me....Uh yeah I said for "me". Maybe not you.

You asked the question. "If" you want to buy a MP5 then do it....Whatever makes you happy right?

I would go Micro all the way, I spent two years collecting parts to build one, then after collecting everything I sold the project to an SOT down in VA to build a F/A out of it. Big regret on that one.

The MP5 is a nice piece, no doubt. But building a roller lock is a lot different than the AK/Galil platform. It has its purpose, but unlike the MAR "Micro Galil" is limited by the round: 9mm. The Micro can fill the role of a pdw same as the MP5 but is much more versatile in my opinion being 5.56. Plus the Micro is just one of the best handling SBRs I've ever handled. I sold my reverse stretch MP5 due to the fact it was basically just a range toy, a really expensive range toy and it was picky. Prepare to invest in some spares for the MP5 also, rollers, extractor springs, etc as they like to eat extractor springs if you shoot a lot. They also really only like the more expensive HK mags, the Korean ones are hit n miss, really any of them not marked HK are hit n miss. HK= High Kost. The Micro is expensive up front, but once built and tuned up it's an unbeatable tank.

Good luck with your decision. If all else fails, get both lol.

Unless you do the work yourself, it's cheaper to buy an ACE pistol and call it a day. Even then, not that big of a difference.

The more well known places charge a pretty penny for a good reweld.

Anymore pics of that converted ACE pistol?
Just pop off the lower and add trigger guard?
Thanks

I just did this one today, not a pistol but same thing....Take you time removing the old rivets. There is a single rivet where the pistol grip will go and it will need reamed for a standard rivet. This one is the 6 or 7th ACE Ive did.

Also you need to mode the thumb safety as it will run right into the front of a standard Galil grip like the one you see below. A fab defense PG will work with the safety not being modded. I like the old school look.

Handguard will mount up just fine without the lower on too...

A little confused with the mag.

Is this a 7.62x39? Curvature looks like a 5.56 but I assume a 7.62x39 with the mag release.

Your right, all I had out was a Galil mag when I took the photos. Of course you know the AKM mags and Galil mags should both fit this magwell as that was how it was designed by the creator of the first Galil (Yisrael Galil and Yaacov Lior).

Kind of glad I did pop that mag in as it also shows not much has changed really.

I scored a cheap ace carbine a few months back with a jacked up barrel. Owner tried welding a attachment to barrel for? he shop sold it to me for a good price. Im thinking about a ARM ACE or? I dont know yet, but I can tell you it will not be a big ordeal to do as the parts will interchange easily.

Yes, gas tube and top cover should fit fine. I never ran that setup to check the sighting but the way things are set I would bet the front sight would work too but dont quote me on that for now.
