Default Chinese smooth vs textured pg...

Since there's such a wealth of knowledge here I thought I'd see if anyone knows the difference from the smooth pg to the wider textured ones on the pre ban Chinese guns...thanks.

Polytech milled, tube side folders and double folders came with fat checkered grips. Everything else got smooth skinny grips. Skinny checkered were sold individually. There were probably exceptions because China.

The question in your anchor post wasn't really a question, was it?

You had to come along and add more info later in the thread so folks'd know what you were looking for.

. . and I would like to see folks ask proper questions, rather than ambiguous ones where people have to guess at what info is being sought.

You posted a rambling seemingly self-answered anchor post, so I was just wondering what your actual question was.

It looked like the respectable guys that replied obviously knew what I was asking...It seams childish to me to make a big deal out of nothing...I guess some people have nothing better to do? I've stayed off this site for the past couple years simply because of you...u always make a stink out of everything...I don't get it...

Some like it smooth and some like it rough.

But almost all like it Chinese AK!

Just give me a pre-ban.

This is not exactly correct. The milled guns, tube side folders, and Factory 386 double folders had checkered fat grips. The early factory 416 double folders and fixed stock had smooth skinny grips. The later 416 double folders and fixed stock and the 386 fixed stock had a fat smooth grip. Skinny checkered grips are not factory. Every one I have ever seen was either a smooth skinny grip that had been checkered, a fat checkered grip that had been re-profiled, or a repo. This is for Polytech rifles.
Norinco imports that I own/owned came with the skinny smooth grips. No checkering on Norinco guns...

As always with the Chinese guns there are exceptions. My fixed stock Poly 416 spiker has a fat checkered grip that came with it which I believe is original although it may have been swapped out as I'm not the first owner. I also have what appears to be an original Chinese factory checkered skinny grip with the Chinese label still attached that Norinco was supposedly offering for sale separately as a option to replace the smooth version. Although uncommon I have seen others and almost all are more orange in color then the standard light colored blond wood equivalent. Has anyone else encountered these?

I have seen quite a few Chinese skinny checkered grips for sale. They were an accessory like the Norinco ak74 style brake and clamp on spike bayonet.
