Russian Scopes
My extended length stock w/adjustable cheekpad has been shipped by Rhineland Arms and I am going to mount a Harris bipod on it.

I am wanting to replace the scope as well, and am considering either a:
Kalinka
http://www.kalinkaoptics.com/detail.aspx?ID=569
or the 10 power sniper, which is currently not on the website.
The 8 power is $219.00, and the sniper was $269.00.
I just wonder if the PSL's accuracy merits the higher magnification and price, as well as the wait for it to be back in stock?
Also, fixed and zoom, what are the advantages of either?
The rangefinder - that is merely the markings on the glass, isn't it? There isn't anything like a laser rangefinder involved, is there? So how is it different from the 4X POSP that is stock on the rifle, other than illumination and increase magnification?
At $15.00 each, the various colours of bulbs are affordable, but which are the most useful?
Thanks in advance for the info and opinions!

It's said the non-D scopes hold up a lot better than the -D versions. The fixed 8x42 without the "D" is a decent scope.

I did too until I got a 1" mount for it and stuck a 10X bushnell in it. Now I'm much happier.

I just wonder if the PSL's accuracy merits the higher magnification and price, as well as the wait for it to be back in stock? I think this in large part depends on what you want to do with the rifle, as far as how far you are shooting.
Also, fixed and zoom, what are the advantages of either? Once again, depends on what your expectations are. Are you going to hunt it? If so a low power, fixed mag might be a better answer.
The rangefinder - that is merely the markings on the glass, isn't it? There isn't anything like a laser rangefinder involved, is there? So how is it different from the 4X POSP that is stock on the rifle, other than illumination and increase magnification? I can't speak for lasers, but I have the 4-8 POSP as well as the IP21 Minuta. The difference in those two rangefinders is mainly that they go out to 1000, whereas the 4x only goes to 400 (IIRC).
At $15.00 each, the various colours of bulbs are affordable, but which are the most useful? A lighted reticle is a lighted reticle to me, but depending on how tacticool you want it, I spose you could change up. A spare is a good thing.
Thanks in advance for the info and opinions!
