Look what came in yesterday!!
Full auto Norinco AK47 converted by Weapons specialties of AZ back in the early 80's. Interesting that it appears to have Egyptian wood instead on the usual blond chinese furniture and the selector markings are acryllic russian vs Chinese. All in all, I love the way it looks and it runs great!! Put about 500 rounds thru it the day she arrived and it did not miss a beat. My shoulder is a bit bruised but the smile makes up for it.
My long term plan is to eventually krink this out with a nice bulgarian 7.62x39 krink kit I have. Having the acryllic selector markings was a nice plus since it will be more correct as a bulgy krink.

HE HE. If it makes you feel any better, come on up to Michigan sometime and you can shoot it until your shoulder turns to pulp.

Seems a shame to cut it. I wouldn't be suprized if it was a movie gun at one time with those markings on it.
Goo on you for giving it a new home!

Yeah, I am hesitating cutting it but after having owned a full auto krink, there is nothing like a drum dump out of a fire breathing dragon...lol.
Going to shoot the crap out of this rifle first

I am no expert...... but wouldn't a screw build give you the option of having a krink AND a rifle? easy front end swaps is what i am sugesting.....
I dunno if SBR or pistol even matters w FA licences that aparently you have.

What exactly is a screw build? Never heard of that. Machine gun status trumps SBR status so any registered machine gun can have any length barrel you wish.
Sounds interesting.

Don't want to start the old screw vs. rivet thing but would a screw build hold up to full auto? Would be nice to be able to switch back and forth, or to own an FA period.

AGREED dont wanna turn this into a debate.
IMHO YES a screw build will hold up to FA fire.
As far as safety is concerned....the design of the AK will prevent any issues with out of battery detonation ect IF the screws fail. (they wont fail)
We can all agree that is factual correct?
drbones2nd a "screw build" uses screw instead of rivets to install the front trunion. Therefore you can easily remove it, allowing front end swaps.
You simply "tap" the rivet holes in the trunion to 10-32 thread.
Plenty of info about em right here, use the search feature.
Notice how my "rivets" have a hole in the center? There "button head machine screws" I have done all my builds like this.

why not set up a krink barrel (with rear sight base/topcover) headspaced to the current bolt/carrier. Press out your barrel pin (or have a good smith do it) and press in the shorty. Adds fun, and doesnt permanently change the receiver?

I am actually contemplating just buying a transferrable Krink and ad it to the collection. Found a couple that I am looking at but man they are pricey...lol.
The idea of pressing out the barrel is interesting and honestly do not know enough about Ak's to speculate on that.

Pressing the barrel out isnt very hard. If your not mechanically inclined you sgould deffinately have a gunsmith do it, as your receiver is $14k so the peice of mind would be worth the price alone.
But... buying another FA in the Krink variety would deffinately be the best option as you would have 2 FA AKs! The cool factor alone would be worth it and you'ld have a spare to hand a friend or friendly on looker while your burning up the krink.
We cant own NFA stuff in my state so I tryn push everyone else to get all he fun they can outa it. Concider me one more devil on your shoulder.

Slip on over to my house anytime, ....well, call first, LOL and shoot it in my back yard range. Odd part is Michigan has law to allow full auto but not silencers.

Michigan allows full auto, DD's and AOW's but no SBR, SBS unless they are c&r original guns.
Hell, I am just happy they now allow any FA gun, not just C&R stuff like it was four years ago.
Grateful for what we can have.

Man, 14K just to make a whole lotta noise? I guess as an investment I can understand, but just for the chance to go bangbangbang, well, I can bumpfire for about 13,700 dollars cheaper. Even if I was allowed FA here in NY, I just couldnt justify that kind of cash.
Regardless, its a nice piece and Im sure as hell one jealous mofraker...
