Default aftermarket handguards for pap M92

I just bought one and it is at ffl waiting for pick up.

Can someone let me know what other HG fit?

I'm liking the MFT design at Carolina Shooters Supply but Greg doesn't know if it will fit

Thanks in advance

The Yugo front ends are different than the standard AKS/U/M. I've heard there are folks who make the railed forends for them, but I don't know who they are. The only aftermarket stocks I'm sure about for the M92 are from Ironwood Designs.

Midwest Industries makes railed handguards for the M92.

I'm interested in changing mine also but I am waiting to see what becomes available. I would like to install one of those angle grips also.

I have received and installed a midwest industries quad rail handguard for my m92 pap. It works great. everything installed fine and I couldn't be happier. plus you can't beat the price. roughly $120 and the kit includes all tools and lock-tite you will need.

The main kicker is that it has the fruity cutout for an underfolder on it, right where I want to put a magpul AFG.

Not cool Midwest industries, Not cool at all.

Cutout? It looks like a full rail at 9, 12, 3, and 6. Not saying you're wrong by any means. I just don't see it in the picture on midwest's site.

Its got the rail at 12,3,6,9 but the 6 rail is about 2/3rds missing.

they assume that everyone with a M92 is going to run a shitty underfolding stock. That isnt the case.

Either way, it pisses me off most that neither Ultimak nor UsPalm have put anything out for the *MASSIVE* influx of yugo krinks.

Ultimak could easily make a rail and have the market.
USPALM could easily make a m92 topcover thats optic specific.

Why neither one has jumped when the market dictated it is beyond me.

^ Agree wholeartedly Alderleet. I did hear somewhere that USPALM is currently developing, or going to develop, an optic specific (longer) topcover for the MI M92 handguard, but haven't seen anything tangible as of yet. Others may have but I'll let them add to the discussion.

To the OP, Samson is another alternative. They're about twice the price of the Midwest handguard and it installs differently from what I've read. I called Samson and they said the K-Rail Model-2 is the one for the M92.

How solid is the Midwest? Good enough for optics?

QUE?

Most modern firearms have the same "squarish" receiver and round handguard setup.

The MI handguard attaches to the barrel, whereas the Samson handguard attaches to the barrel trunion. Is one method better that the other? If so why?

Not sure what you mean. It mounts rock solid and will take the AFG just fine. I didn't want to drill my dust cover for the stormwerkz and I gained some real estate on the front, so the MI was a no-brainer.

I just put mine on and I have a full rail at the bottom with afg2.
I got the MI-AK-YK. Im very happy with it. It had some rust on the screws despite being soaked in wd-40 smelling stuff. good solid fit and feel. Great deal for $115 considering the others are much more. Ultimak $300, Samson $200.

Mine was fine. Might urs be defective?

Given that the handguard clamps between the trunnion and the point where the gas tube clamps to the barrel, there is no real advantage to the trunnion mount as the barrel is not floating.

For the $100 saved, I would choose the MI and put some money into a flash suppressor.

Here is a pic of my son shooting his at a range under the lights...you can see why a flash suppressor might be useful. I have two sitting on the table waiting for him to come up this week end...both our guns will get them.

I got ya. Thank you Strawdog!! I'll be going with the MI. As for the flash hider, I just received a Manticore Nightshroud. I kinda wish I had waited for the Manticore Nightbrake as I don't plan on SBR'ing it, but oh well. Thanks again!

the Nightshroud is what I ordered for our guns as well.

I am curious to know how hot the MI gets. I went outside the other day and went thru a couple of magazines and there was plenty of heat! I would like the wood handguard except my hand slips on it if I don't concentrate on a firm grip.

And, I want to put a red dot on it as well.

I think the MI look pretty dang awesome. I like it with the AFG. It might also be nice with a stubby VG. I'd kind of like one to do an SBR with... just have to get the law modified in my state. Boo

I disagree
My hogue grip for generic ak fit perfectly on my m92 pap. Maybe something wrong with ur grip screw angle or something.

I believe he was referencing the handguards, they won't fit.

I have the Hogue pistol grip on my M92, and it does indeed fit.

AFG should span the ''fruity'' cut out with NP.

That's what I went with also. I am looking for some covers for the rails that aren't in use now.
