Romanian/Norinco Parts Compatibility
Will a Romanian front trunnion fit a Norinco receiver? I have read various threads on receiver thickness, but nothing specific to this combination.
If it is not a direct fit, what mods to the trunnion or receiver would make it work? Or is this too much trouble to attempt. Thank you, 4b1t. |
I'm looking at a WASR and a Norinco underfolder right now and the biggest difference is the rivet placement so you must redrill the receiver and you will have an extra hole. Otherwise it 'should' fit but why are you thinking about doing this mismatch?

Doug,
So how would that affect the inner dimensions of the receiver? Both measure the OD of the trunnions the same. I've pressed 1.00 flats, 1.05 flats and 1.5 flats and the trunnions all fit fine. I know that commercial/aftermarket 1.6 mm receivers require the trunnions to be milled but we are talking a ready made Norinco which measures the same OD of the trunnion as the Romy. Are YOU looking at a Romy AND a Norinco right now as I am? Or what? I'm just trying to answer the guys question. |

New barrel
Personally I'd go with a new barrel as the Romy barrel is different in several details such as gas port holes on gas block on Romy as opposed to the holes being in gas tube on Chinese etc and the handguards will not interchange without a bit of fitting and the front sight hood is different and many other minor details. A new Poly-Tech barrel is less than $80.00 and will fit perfectly.
