bolt carrier and the Mak-90

Anyone know what other bolt carriers will fit a milled Mak-90? Romanian? Bulgarian?

Romanian will fit the 7.62x39 MAK-90. For the 223 look for the rarer "round" bottom Romanian bolt carrier. The MAK-90's I've had had fairly soft bolt carriers and I changed with European bolt carriers. Some MAK-90's and most MAK-91's have a short bolt and firing pin which goes with the stepped hammer. The bolt itself is more difficult to replace but if you find one that headspaces correctly the standard European ones are better steel and work better with replacement FCG's.

Over the years, I have put thousands of rounds through Chinese AK's of every configuration and have never experienced a problem or have heard of soft metal being used in these guns. Please explain what you are talking about. I have seen you mention this before in other threads. I am not saying you are wrong but I just want to be enlightened as to what you are basing this on. After all, you can learn something new everyday.

allen, you're a wealth of information but the only bolt carrier I've ever had that was soft was out of my SAR-1, which I swapped out for a hungarian bolt carrier before I sold it. The ends literally mushed around wherever it made contact with metal.
