Bought a Palmetto psak-47 side folder.

Finally got it today, haven't shot it yet but hopefully will tomorrow, I like the smooth finish and the stock locks tight like my arsenals but the triangle stock wont fit yet, psa pin seems slightly bigger but could probably run a numbered bit down the pin hole and make it work. Also might have to file down the opening where the button hooks it. Didn't mess with it to much.

Overall it feels solid, nothing rattles, the sight are perfectly straight. Tried a bunch of different mags and they all snapped right in. The bolt and carrier are smooth moving as well. It was greased up good inside. I hope it shoots as good as it looks and feels.

I think for 579$ its a pretty decent deal, It does feel different than my saiga's but those feel different than my arsenals lol so its hard to explain but it has a slick and kind of smooth different metal feeling to it. Pretty cool its all made here so i hope its a shooter!

Is it a 5.5mm pin? There’s adapters to go from 4.5 to 5.5 if you don’t want to do by permanent modification

Thumper5102 11-11-2017 01:06 AM

Looks nice, especially for the price. Tough I must say, I prefer the look of the Arsenal's myself with the 24x1.5 brake.

I sure hope they fixed their QC problems. I have a GB2 with the cast bolt carrier, haven't had any issues with this 2nd rifle, the 1st one was a mess. Hopefully this one doesn't suffer the same fate.

Glad it passed the bench test, Looking forward to a range report.

fpk762 11-11-2017 01:08 AM

Just measured it and am getting .180 in, i did try the arsenal pin and it was slightly to loose. 4.5mm=.177

Fjordforder 11-11-2017 02:28 AM

Tagging.

fpk762 11-11-2017 03:20 AM

I drilled out the hole just a little and filed on where the latch hooks on the receiver! Button is still kind of tight so needs a little bit more but everything else lines up!

looks nice! & yes please report back on range info

- what triangle folder is that ? & which pin size is it ? 4.5mm or ?

fpk762 11-11-2017 12:33 PM

Its an izzy 4.5mm stock, psa is some different size. Ran a bit down it and went together great.

Thumper5102 11-11-2017 12:53 PM

Leave it up to PSA to use non-standard parts, unless they used the 5.5mm pin. If you had a set of calipers you could tell real quickly.

Edit: .180 is 4.57mm

fpk762 11-11-2017 01:38 PM

That what i used to measure the pin, it definitely is not the 5.5mm one.

mengra1 11-11-2017 02:18 PM

very nice.

hopefully a benchmark now for the "Po'boy's" triangle folder. hopefully PSA if/when start using triangles, they aren't that same bad weld batch of leftover DDI triangles post merger....

Gotta be careful leaving a bag of bad stocks sitting on somebody's desk. They might accidentally get used.

@OP, does the rear trunion and stock have anything like their little puzzle piece thats at the back of their standard trunions? They said those were for meant for some future folding stock but nothing ever came of it.

Mattylight30 11-12-2017 12:17 AM

Looking forward for the range report.

Have one sitting in the cart.

fpk762 11-12-2017 01:10 AM

Here is what the rear looks like giantpune, and matty hopefully will get to shoot it tomorrow! Ran out of daylight today :(

Your picture made me pull out my credit card and placed the order.

Where can buy a triangle, metal stock like your? Google search took me to eBay and the seller is from Russia. Is it legal to buy this stock from Russia seller?

If anyone know online stores who have this stock for sale, please let me know.

Thanks,
Cal

alright guys, heading out now. time to see what shes worth! taking 7 mags and a 75rnd drum! will report back in a few.

fpk762 11-12-2017 08:36 PM

Good news! Not one dam issue or hangup! Ended up taking 8 mags and a drum. Mix of fmj,hp,sp and different manufacturers of ammo. Had it smoking pretty good after about the 4th mag, shot some 10" targets at 25m and adjusted just a little, shot a few more groups then started dumping mags, i have to admit i bump fired 2 mags shhhh dont tell anyone. Heres a few pics, nothing to special but was glad to be able to shoot this. Very pleased with my purchase and will more than likely be buying another very soon. So far so good with this USA made ak, im diggin it. Swapping that stock for the triangle one just made it look badass! Anyway pics!!

Nice. Can you take pictures of the bolt? I've seen some bolt firing pin retaining pins being smashed into place and hard to remove.

The retaining pin still looks good, went back together fine. Will probably shoot a few hundred more here soon. I was going to order some spare parts like this and the firing pin, extractor, ect. Will normal ak stuff work? Psa sells them pretty cheap.

fpk762 11-13-2017 12:01 PM

Alright who ordered them out of stock lol! Was looking this am and gone! Dammit anyway, psa better get on it!

Digital_sky 11-13-2017 12:33 PM

Not me...yet. I'm considering picking up the non blem version when back in stock. Have you noticed any "blems" anywhere on it?

No lol, never noticed anything wrong or marked up. Looked brand new in a heavy plastic sealed bag inside the psa box.

TideAlum 11-13-2017 02:14 PM
