ok first off i`m new to ak`s, i am going to start placing orders soon to get started building them. i will copy and past this post in the general section so no one will waste there time, please rply to either one, heres my question. i realy like the squared off looking gas block front sight that i see on the krinks and on some other ak`s. over the slanted gas block and the front sight farther down the barrel ones. i plan on building on rommy kits, is it possible to get/put the squared off kind on those? if so i would really appreaciate some input. thanks a bunch......oh i see that ace has an adapter block that covers the slanted gas block. it looks ok i guess but not what i really want to to...

it doesn't really make sense to put a $90.00 sight block on an $89.00 kit. the krink block will really not work right on your kit for several reasons. and fitting it is a lot of work.

did you swap out a slanted one for that type? i agree its almost enough to buy another rommy kit. but i like the look of them. thanks for the input.

you will have to redrill the gasport
rommy is 45 deg and the combo block is 90
that and you will need to do somethang about the barrel if you leave it hanging out past the combo block it will look stupid and you wont beable to attach a brake

you can also make the combo block from old saiga parts
that usally sell for around 10 bucks

i pressed one of the above units onto an amd 65, didn't redrill anything and works fine.
i pressed one onto a romy and thought something would break, it was so damn tight, i should have mic'ed it. on that gun i had to drill another gas port, and simply covered the old port with the new block. it works fine also

I think I would have plugged the old port because if there is the least bit of leakage, it could lead to gas cutting and trash the block and bbl. I know it's a long shot ,but it could be a real PITA

I used it on a pistol build.

I cut down a Ak74 barrel and then made a jig for my grinder using a mikkita to turn the barrel while i ground it. Worked great! lol although i probably just got lucky. The Krink block fit on there nice and snug. Looks super cool for a home job deal. Had to re-drill the gas path on the 74 barrel too. but its easy to make a 90deg hole in a barrel.
