The "projectiles" are a hollow, low-grade styrene plastic that are just there for reliable feeding. The plastic is totally consumed in the barrel by the blast. You still need to use a BFA for the correct back-pressure and it will catch any particles that aren't burned up. If it passes the 10-foot perforation test, it should be acceptThe only down side is they are extremely dirty, and I thought the US GI blanks were dirty. They also have a burning wire/rotton egg smell. But they do work. I burned through about 400rds of them this past July 4th. I think they are a bit pricey from Sportsman's Guide. When I buy some more I'm going to try to get them straight from the Barnaul importer.
I was actually surprised with the plastic bullet idea, never thinking it would work as well as it does. I'm building a vacuum former to try and make my own 8mm version for the French Lebel rifle. The theory is sound, it's just a matter of working out the nuts & bolts aspect.
