I am planning on buying a Dragunov rifle here pretty soon and was hoping on a little help. I'd prefer a NIB rifle (I guess Romanian) but will take a good used one. Does anyone have any advice as to what country, what style, etc. is best? Also what is the going price? Seems I remember them going for $650 w/scope not that long ago now all I see is $850.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

the ones you see that are being advertised as "Dragunovs" or "SVDs"......are not in any way shape or form real Dragunovs, they are just overgown AKMs that fire a 54r round.

there are few places that sell those romaks, SOG has them for 600 bucks......

a real soviet military SVD, will set you back about 5-6,000 bucks.....if you can find one even offered up for sale. they don't come up that often as only a handful was ever imported.

the chinese version in 54r, will set you back about 3,000 bucks......the .308 version can still be bought for around 2,000 bucks from I/O

the other versions are the russian TIGRs....the barrels are cut short on, have no flash hider but they are SVDs ......and they are steadily going up in price, around 2,000 bucks for one that has military furniture to them. they come up ever now and again on gunbroker auctionarms etc....

your best bet is to buy a ndm86 if you can find one for sale. it's the cheapest svd you can buy and closest to being an authentic svd. the romak3's are not true dragunovs but are great rifles for the money if all you want is the svd look. the russian tigr is another option but i don't think they look good with the chopped barrel and lack of flash hider. the ndm86 will run you at least 1800, tigr's vary from 1200-1800 and the romak3 750-850 for NIB.

your not going to find a NDM 86 anymore that cheap..
since CDNN is sold out of them , the price had jumped
alot more..

Be aware,, the Romanian PSL guns can be bought as Factory origionals or assembled kits.. any marked
FPK or Dragonov are assembled from kits..
