I have seen many people with legal full auto Kalashnikovs, so I am wondering how do they get ahold of them? I know not all of them are class III dealers with a police dept. letterhead. Yes, I am a law abiding citizen, speed limit aside, but I am curious to how they acquire them.

a vast majority of them........I would say 99.9 percent of them were converted into select fire ones, from semi chinese and egytpians by form 1s before the 1986 MG ban on them.......I would say the rest of them, the real McCoyskis, were register during the 68 amnesty period.....those are the ones that were smuggled into this country by soldiers retuning from viet nam.

if you want one of those converted semi AKs, you will have to find one for sale and have to pay the big bucks, plus the 200 tax transfer tax........those usually go for 15 grand. the real ones, honest to goodness commie AKs, will cost you in the 20-25 grand range, or there abouts.........this is if you live in a state, or community that allows you to own a NFA weapon, if you live in a state that doesn't allow it, then it's all moot.

Civillians may own machine guns under federal law. All you have to do is get the paperwork approved, pay a $200 transfer tax, and find one for sale. Several states do restrict their possession, so depending on where you live it may be illegal to have one on a state or local level.

Prior to may of 1986, any person in the US who could legally own a handgun could also apply for permission to make a machine gun. There were also many small shops that made them commercially. Prior to 1968, foreign made machine guns were allowed to be imported for civillian sales. These full auto weapons are still allowed to be bought and sold to civillians, but no new ones can be made or imported for civillian sale. That is why the prices for them are sky high, limited numbers available and high demand.

I hate the gov't.... Sometimes or most the time at least, depends on which day. Thx for intel dump... Was thinking about getting CLIII, maybe only for short barrels... These would have been a heck of an investment pre-'86!
