I just thought that I'd show my progress on building a receiver from one of the $29.95 TAPCO flats. I built a form for both the bottom and sides. This was the result:

I heat treated the rails and the receiver last night. As soon as I get more parts, I'll weld the rails in place and see if everything fits correctly.

the form you used to bend the receiver, is it one you built yourself? If it is, would you care to show us a picture or describe how you built it? It is always nice to see the ideas and tools that are used to overcome problems in building.

Thud,

Nice work on the flat. Can you follow up and show us a pic of the jig/form you used? Technique for the top rails? Don't leave us hanging, your success appears to be the only one around for the Tapco flat.

jigs, jigs, jigs! We want to see closeups of jigs with tips and techniques. Nice folds but I have many of my own to look at.

nice.

What method is used to drive the jig into the frame, a press?

I used a press, but it went so easy I think a good vise would do the trick
