Hurricane Katrina, one of the worst natural disasters in U.S. history, devastated the Gulf Coast of the United States from New Orleans, Louisiana to Mobile, Alabama. Katrina made landfall in the early morning of August 29, 2005. The hurricane is believed to have killed thousands of people, and known to have displaced more than 1 million.
The situation after Katrina hit the Gulf Coast was traumatic and heartbreaking event that deeply moved me and my family. In the days following this horrendous disaster, the footage I saw in the media, about all the life lost, damage caused, and people in need, fueled my compassion to help in any way that I could. I, myself have already donated to hurricane Katrina relief funds, but this catastrophe requires more support then I can personally give. It was this conclusion that persuaded me to contact all of the MIG/ETA (http://k-varcorp.com/forums/) members to see if there was something more that we could do. I was delighted to find that every member of MIG/ETA (http://k-varcorp.com/forums/) was responsive in wanting to help.
We decided to accept donations and set up a series of auctions, to auction off merchandise donated by our MIG/ETA (http://k-varcorp.com/forums/) members with 100% of all proceeds going to hurricane Katrina relief funds. There will be no administrative costs whatsoever, not only are our MIG/ETA (http://k-varcorp.com/forums/) members donating their merchandise but they are volunteering their time as well. As Americans, we all have a civil duty and responsibility to assist individuals and communities alike, especially when it is in our own backyard.
